Chisora says he can’t wait to “smash the living daylights out of Wladimir”

By Dave Lahr: Unbeaten British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) can’t wait to get into the ring with IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) on April 30th at the SAP-Arena, in Mannheim, Germany. Chisora, 26, sees a lot of flaws in the 34-year-old Wladimir’s game that he believes he can exploit.

In an article at sportinglife.com, Chisora said “I can’t wait to get into the ring and smash the living daylights out of Wladimir. He has so many weaknesses. I don’t care how many fights I’ve had. I would have taken him on in my first fight.”

I agree with Chisora. Wladimir has tons of weaknesses in his game with his inability to fight on the inside, his tendencies to clinch anytime a fighter gets near him and his terrible accuracy with his punches. Chisora is a great inside fighter and he’s going to take advantage of Wladimir’s lack of an inside game by pounding him with head and body shots. Chisora also has made it clear that he’s not going to play nice if Wladimir starts with the clinching like he always does against busy fighters. Chisora will keep throwing even with Wladimir grabbing a hold of him. That’s a smart thing for Chisora to do, because you can’t just stop throwing punches just because a fighter is trying to shut down your offense by clinching. If you have two hands free, you got to work and throw shots. This is what Chisora is going to do to ruin Wladimir’s world and take him out.

Chisora has looked superb in defeating Sam Sexton, Danny Williams and Carl Baker. Unfortunately, Chisora has outgrown the limited competition in the UK and he’s ready to take on Wladimir and then look for a unification bout against either WBA heavyweight champion David Haye or Wladimir’s older brother WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. The fight against Haye would be a natural, because it would be the easier bout and it will be huge because both Haye and Chisora are from the UK.

Wladimir was supposed to be fighting Haye, but Wladimir blew his chance when he suddenly announced that he wanted to fight Chisora on April 30th in a tune-up bout. Some people saw this as Wladimir’s way out of the Haye fight.
