By Terry Arthur: In the semi finals of the super six, Carl The Cobra Froch, will be taking on the elder statesman, The road Warrior Glen Johnson for the coveted place in the final.

In his previous bout, Johnson came in as replacement for the injured Mikkel Kessler, against Allen Green. Kessler pulled out of the bout due to an eye injury sustained at the head of Ward, and probably exacerbated by Froch in their closely fought contest- Which Kessler won by way of a unanimous decision. From the end of the first round, when Green tasted the power of Johnson, one could see the writing on the wall for green, ,who seems to lack the necessary mettle to be a top level pro. At the end of the third round, he was taking heavy punishment and was only saved by the bell, and as the commentator said, “ he was discombobulated” In other words, didn’t know where he was. Johnson finished the hapless Green with a TKO in round eight.

Froch is coming of an impressive points victory over Arthur Abraham. Which, may I remind you, he was an underdog for. He totally nullified every thing that Abraham attempted, employing perfect distance and using a stiff jab to set up a plethora of different punches that had his opponent dumbfounded. He basically fought the right fight and turned back the clock to his amateur days, and boxed and moved his way into an unassailable lead.

When Froch fights Johnson, I would like to see him fighting in the same vein as he did against Abraham. Although Johnson has just over a 50% ko ratio, he has power, and has fought quality opposition all through his career. That being said Froch has a granite chin, but why take unnecessary risks in such an important fight. Johnson is a pressure fighter, but, if Froch uses the jab to create the openings he can negate that pressure and apply some of his own. Johnson will be a threat throughout the fight, he has great conditioning, and as mentioned before, solid power . However, Froch will take over the fight from the middle rounds onwards and take Johnson apart with jabs, left and right hooks and uppercuts. I cannot see him stopping Johnson, but it will be convincing in the final analysis.

Froch will then go on to fight the winner of the Ward vs. Abraham bout. The money’s on Ward to get to the final and beat froch, but I cannot wait to see that fight, because I don’t see it like that.
