By Allen Hmiel: Boxing is dead in America surpassed by way to many other popular sports. Even the exciting action filled MMA events have captured the American viewing audiences. American boxing without a talented champion heavyweight to rally around and support has brought upon the demise and eventual end of boxing in the USA. Lackluster U.S heavyweights, basically a talentless group of large men who cannot fight due to a lack of elite boxing ability has driven the popularity of American boxing to new lows and has greased the skids into obscurity.

Currently there is nothing in the ranks of US fighters that can draw huge paying crowds that vigorously support their fighter. Mayweather, great as he once was has enabled himself through his various legal issues to become more of a pariah and has lost much of his once rabid support. The newspapers and TV stations local and cable alike hardly ever cover the sport of boxing and we currently have undefeated champions walking around basically unrecognized and uncovered and unknown in their own country.

Yes boxing in America is dead and the dwindling US fan group hasn’t yet realized it. US television and cable are filled with professional events that have captured the American audience and have left boxing as a third tier sport with little coverage or none at all. Boxing has died in America and no one seems to care because the other professional sports have heroes that are adored and idolized everywhere they go. The American Media has very clearly made their choice and the American fan base has also chosen to neglect boxing and relegate the sport to the back burner in society. There are no U.S fighters that have captured the interest or created any excitement to help draw fans to their bouts. The US has old guys like Hopkins 45 and Holyfield 47 still fighting on fumes and now Tarver at 42 thinks he is a heavyweight. Shannon Briggs goes to Germany and gets absolutely destroyed taking one of the worst beating a fighter has ever taken.

The funeral for Boxing in America is an ongoing event currently in progress and will be finalized in a few more years. Sadly for the few remaining fans that enjoy boxing in the states they can possibly become European boxing fans and try to follow their favorite fighters via the computer and cable TV. Yes, Boxing is Dead in America and it isn’t coming back.
