Soto-Antillon is the better fight compared to Pacquiao-Mosley

By Chris Williams: A fight that belongs in the main event on May 7th instead of on the undercard is the rematch between World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight champion Humberto Soto (54-7-2, 32 KO’s) and challenger Urbano Antillon (28-2, 20 KO’s), who will be fighting on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley bout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I personally think the Soto vs. Antillon bout is a much, much better fight compared to the Pacquiao-Mosley mismatch. This is insane to have such a quality fight like Soto and Antillon on the undercard of such a terrible mismatch like Mosley and Pacquiao. That’s like putting garbage on top of caviar in my view, not that Pacquiao and Mosley wouldn’t have been a great fight five to ten years ago, but it isn’t how that Mosley is totally shot.

Soto and Antillon battled back and forth for 12 rounds on December 4th, trading shot for shot in one of the most exciting fights in 2010. Soto ultimately prevailed, winning the fight by a narrow 12 round decision, but Antillon put in a hell of a fight with his steady pressure that he kept putting on Soto during the fight.

I frankly left speechless after witnessing this fantastic fight. I had more respect for both fighters, as Soto and Antillon took huge shots in that fight but stayed up and continued to fight it out.

A rematch between these two warriors deserves nothing less than to be put at the top of the bill. It’s sad that this fight would be on the undercard of any big fight, especially a poor one like Pacquiao-Mosley.
