By Francisco Hernandez: Asked about the outcome of the his upcoming fight with Nonito Donaire, Fernando Montiel explained: “I expect Donaire to stand and fight me in the initial rounds of the fight, but as soon as he feels my power, Donaire will start running. I am going to have to chase him around the ring to stop him. My intention is to knockout Donaire.”

Fernando Montiel explained how excited he was to be finally fighting Donaire: “Donaire is a great fighter and that’s why I’ve been chasing him for years to fight me, several times it looked like the fight was going to be made and he (Donaire) always backed down after initially agreeing to a fight, so you understand how excited I am that the fight is now a reality.”

Fernando Montiel is not off in his predictions that Nonito Donaire will run. Donaire himself recently dropped some hints that he plans to run for most of the fight, stating that he doesn’t plan to stand in front of Montiel but will try to move. Filipino fighters are renowned for their bravery and make exciting fights because they will not back down from a challenge of mixing it up. Donaire will probably not fight Filipino style, but will run. Donaire will do what some casual fans mistakenly call “boxing,” which consists of running away from your opponent. Donaire will make a stinker out of this fight if he mounts his bicycle and pedals away. The fight should be one of the best of 2011 if Nonito Donaire opts to really fight instead of getting on a speeding bicycle.
