Image: Ward will show his versatility tonight in destroying BikaBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten WBA super middleweight talent Andre Ward (22-0, 13 KO’s) will show off his stuff against aging 31-year-old contender Sakio Bika (28-4-2, 19 KO’s) at the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California. This bout matches Ward – an outstanding inside and outside fighter – against Bika, who only has the ability to fight on the inside where he has a nasty tendency to rough up his opponents and foul.

Ward, 26, holds all the cards in this fight, as he’s an excellent outside fighter due to his speed and an even better inside fighter than Bika. Ward can basically pick and choose his method for dominating Bika.

It’s going to be like child’s play for the talented Ward. The school will be in session tonight in Oakland, and Ward will be the teacher and Bika the pupil. I like this fight because of the fact it’s taking place as part of a split doubleheader on Showtime with the other fight being the Super Six tournament clash between Carl Froch vs. Arthur Abraham in Helsinki, Finland.

This will be a great opportunity for boxing fans to compare and contrast the difference in talent between the tournament leader Ward and two of the other fighters Froch and Abraham. I see it as being a huge difference in ability, as Ward is going to likely look light years ahead of those two fighters in ability.

Ward wants to score a knockout over the tough-chinned Bika in an effort to send a message to the other tourney participants while at the same time showing the boxing world who the best fighter is in the super middleweight division.

If Ward can accomplish what Lucian Bute and Joe Calzaghe failed to do in their wins against Bika, it would be saying a lot about how good Ward is as a fighter. I see him accomplishing his goal while at the same time beating Bika in a humiliating fashion tonight. Bika has a bad habit of throwing wide shots.

Ward is going to capitalize on this by drilling him in between shots with straight punches. I think Bika is going to be getting a whole lot tonight, much more than he ever has before and more than his head will be able to take without going down for the count.

I think the interesting part of this fight will be on the inside where Ward will test how good Bika is in close. Ward is the type of fighter that likes to experiment and show that he can beat you at your own game.

Bika is going to be for a shock when Ward starts battering him and muscling him in close the same way Ward did with Allan Green in his lopsided 12 round decision over him in his stage 2 Super Six tournament fight last June.
