Image: Froch says he's going to "batter" AbrahamBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) is facing what appears to be another loss on November 27th, when he gets in the ring with the hardest puncher in the Super Six tournament Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) in Helsinki, Finland. Froch, 33, was pretty well beaten up in his last fight against Mikkel Kessler on April 24th of this year, losing the fight by a 12 round unanimous decision. This was the first loss of Froch’s career, but you could easily argue that it should have been his 2nd because of the questionable decision he won over Andre Dirrell earlier in the Super Six tournament last year.

Before that, Froch dodged a major bullet in scoring a come from behind 12th round knockout of Jermain Taylor last year. Froch has put a lot of mileage on his body in his last three fights, and we don’t know how much Froch has left after all the shots he’s been eating. He certainly didn’t look like the same Froch against Kessler, so we may already be seeing the signs of deterioration from Froch being hurt in the Taylor and Dirrell fight by huge shots.

Froch still talks a good game, though, saying in an article at Livefight.com “Trust me when I tell you that I’m going out there to batter Abraham. Whatever tune I decide to hum, the smurf [Abraham’s old nickname] will dance to it.” I kind of doubt it. First of all, I think Froch doesn’t have the courage to go right at Abraham and try to trade with him, but if Froch does, he’s going to quickly get knocked down.

I can see Froch getting up from a knockdown, but he’s not the type that likes to protect his chin after being hurt. He’ll likely pull an amateurish move by trying to trade with Abraham, as if he has him hurt. This will make it all the easier for Abraham to finish off Froch in a brutal fashion with some chopping hands to the head that will send Froch toppling over like a tall tree. I see this as one of those sickening highlight reel knockouts.

Froch is picking Andre Ward to beat Sakio Bika on November 27th in a non-Super Six tournament fight in Oakland, California. Froch says “Ward has the quality and class, but Bika has the brute strength and toughness. With it being another fight in Oakland, I can only really forecast a shut out by Ward on the scorecards as I don’t think Ward carries the power to put away Bika. So I’ll be picking Ward on points for that one.” Brilliant pick, Froch. You just picked the fighter that the entire world has been picking since the fight was first announced. Heck, I could pick this one in my sleep. Ward has too much talent for a limited fighter like Bika. This is going to be like child’s play for Ward winning this fight.
