Mayweather ducks Pacquiao

By Giancarlo Malinconico: Right from the start I want fans to know that Floyd Mayweather Jr. would not have faced Manny Pacquiao earlier this year even if the Pac Man had agreed to the 14-day random blood testing proposal: a source from the Mayweather camp has leaked the information. Camp Mayweather has recently become so petty that it has denied that negotiations have even taken place with Bob Arum concerning the potentially biggest bout in boxing history later this year.

Mr. Ellerbe, who are you kidding? Richard Schaefer has already admitted a gag order has been in place since June of this year. Jeff Mayweather has stated that he was pessimistic that the Mayweather-Pacquiao bout would come off because of the random blood testing issue. Therefore, if there were no fight being negotiated, then why would Schaefer and Jeff make the comments? And, even worse, for the Mayweather camp, HBO president Ross Greenberg has been clearly involved.

Camp Mayweather has lied again. It’s not the first time, and it probably won’t be the last. If one were to review Mayweather’s career, one would see that Floyd has only faced three Hall-of-Fame caliber fighters: Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Juan Manuel Marquez. All of these fighters were in their mid-thirties or older when Mayweather faced them, and, even worse, Floyd weighed in two-pounds over the limit for the Marquez bout.

I have been the first publicly to expose that Mayweather has never beaten a prime Hall-of-Famer in his career, and he received a gift-hometown decision against Jose Luis Castillo in their first bout. Mayweather is ducking Pacquiao for one reason: he knows he will lose.

The bout is not happening not because of Uncle Roger’s upcoming trial: Mayweather has his father to train him. It’s not random blood testing because Manny has agreed to 14-days, which was Floyd’s initial proposal; besides, Pacquiao would be tested through urine up to fight night. It’s not the money because Floyd does not have another opponent out there who can bring him anywhere near the money Pacquiao can – other members of the Mayweather family have admitted this.

Mayweather has been able to duck Pacquiao without committing career suicide thus far because he has deceived many in public into believing that he is one of the greatest fighters of all-time (including me at one point) through a combination of public trash-talking and beating three Hall-of-Famers, none of whom were in their prime at the time of the bouts. In turn, Mayweather’s antics have allowed him to make a fortune and receive favorable coverage by many writers in the media from his home state.
