Image: Harrison’s promoter thinks Haye-Harrison bout could be worth £10m – NewsBy Sean McDaniel: If Audley Harrison’s promoter is right, his November clash with World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s) could be worth £10m between them. According to the southlondon-today.co.uk, Eddie Hearn, the promoter for 38-year-old Harrison, thinks the Haye-Harrison fight will be huge in Britain. It may very well be, because Haye is quite popular among British boxing fans, even though he still hasn’t been really tested at heavyweight to see if he’s for real or not. Harrison is also well know by the boxing public, although not as well liked as Haye.

Hearns says “The Daily Mail said we had agreed a £1m deal with David Haye and Adam Booth, but we’ve had one meeting. Adam is a smart guy. They have got other options but David can make a hell of a lot of money fighting Audley, in what a lot of people feel is a relatively easy fight. But Audley has got one hell of a punch on him and Haye doesn’t take a punch too well. David is without doubt the favourite but Audley is a lot more dangerous than Ruiz – who was no threat and just came over for one more payday before retiring.”

Hearns is right about Harrison being more dangerous than the 38-year-old Ruiz. For that matter, Harrison is a lot more dangerous than any heavyweight opponent that Haye has fought thus far. Haye hasn’t fought anyone with any kind of power yet, so Harrison will be his first mini test for Haye to see if he has the chin to compete against the bigger punchers in the division. Harrison has good power with his left hand, but he doesn’t always use it. Harrison often fights timidly and seems to be afraid to get hit at times. His stamina is also questionable. But it’s doubtful Harrison’s stamina will come into question in a fight against Haye, because Harrison will either get knocked out quickly by Haye or he’ll land something big himself and get Haye out of there.

The fight that fans want to see is Haye vs. Wladimir Klitschko, not Haye vs. Harrison. However, the negotiations are said to be slow and it’s doubtful that Haye and Wladimir will be able to come to an agreement for a fight anytime soon. This is a good thing for Harrison, because it makes it much easier for him to land a fight against Haye and get the best payday of his career.
