This will be Groves first fight in the US and a great stage for him to show off his undoubted talent. He had this to say about the Super-middleweight division “The US have some very promising Super-middleweights starting to break through, it’s my job to show they won’t be having it all their own way in years to come on the biggest stage. GoldenBoy promotions have great faith in me; I plan to repay them with dazzling performances.”

Groves last performance in April was very impressive, stopping Ghanaian Charles Adamu in the 6th. This was the first time Adamu had been stopped and saw Groves claim the Commonwealth title in just his ninth professional fight. Adamu looked in shock after only a couple of rounds, surprised at how good the young Groves was. However, his fight at the Mandalay Bay Resort is not expected to be for that belt.

No opponent has been announced yet for the Mandalay Bay bout, but Groves fancies he will be going toe to toe with a hardened Mexican fighter for the first time “We are taking this fight very seriously; it is not a publicity fight where I will go knock over a “bum”. I plan to be tested as always, American fights are the best in the world’

For me, Groves is possibly the UK’s top prospect and this is a real chance for him to show a world wide audience how good he is. He has already shown the power and strong chin he possesses. I expect world championship fights to be just around the corner. A real shining light for British boxing…
