Image: Mayweather doesn't care about titles - He just wants to enhance his legacyBy Jim Dower: Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. (40-0, 25 KO’s) doesn’t care at all about Shane Mosley’s WBA welterweight title and has refused to pay the World Boxing Association’s sanctioning fees for his May 1st fight against Mosley at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather, 33, is beyond titles at this advanced point of his career and is looking to just enhance his consider able legacy by chasing the best fighters in the sport, starting with the 38-year-old Mosley on May 1st. In an article at the Sun, Mayweather says “I did not want to fight for the WBA title. At this point, it’s all about enhancing my legacy. I’ve done a lot of things in this sport, things that a lot of fighters weren’t able to do in the sport and didn’t do in the sport. This fight with Mosley will enhance my legacy.”

Mayweather has beaten Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez in his last three fights. Adding Mosley’s name to his resume will be a big feather in Mayweather’s cap if he can beat Shane next month. From there, the one big name remaining on Mayweather’s hit list is WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, the main guy that Mayweather came out of his two year retirement to fight. The only thing that separates Mayweather from fighting Pacquiao is Mosley and the random blood tests that Pacquiao is reluctant to take. Most boxing experts expect for Mayweather to beat Mosley next month, and then move on to a fight against Pacquiao.
