Froch: “If I took a bad defeat [like Khan] I would walk through fire to get back at the guy”

khan5634556471By Scott Gilfoid: Oh my, WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch had some blunt words for World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan today. In an interview at Live Fight, the unbeaten Froch said “If I took a bad defeat [like Khan did against Breidis Prescott] I would walk through fire to get back at the guy. I wouldn’t let it go like that, no way. But that’s me”. Ouch! That’s got to hurt. It looks like Froch and me have finally found something that we can agree on. I haven’t been able to figure out for the past year why Khan is so reluctant to get back in the ring with Prescott.

I mean, so what if Prescott knocked Khan out in the 1st round. Khan could have at least tried to get revenge, couldn’t he? I just don’t understand it. And recently with the little Kevin Mitchell stepping up in weight and beating Prescott, it can’t help but make you wonder about what’s going on with Khan. That could have been Khan in the ring with Prescott and maybe beating him. But instead, Mitchell stole his thunder and did the job for Khan. Gosh, why can’t more fighters be like Froch and Mitchell? I almost have found new respect for them both, even though I still think Froch lost to Andre Dirrell and Mitchell against Prescott.

But I still respect the effort. Why did Mitchell have to be the one to fight Prescott and not Khan? Now it’s pretty much too late for Khan to fight Prescott. I don’t know how he can. Prescott has been beaten twice in a row. Who would want to see a fight between him and Khan right now, besides me? I’d like to see it happen because it would be like witnessing a terrible car crash. I see really bad things happen when Prescott catches up to Khan and lands anything.
