haye4534 World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye went for the throat against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in an interview with the Guardian Haye said “I want to knock out both Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, and I don’t care what order they fall in.” It’s kind of the usual stuff for Haye, who still hasn’t made a name for himself in the heavyweight division and wants to attention by talking about the Klitschko brothers.

Haye had his chance at fighting both of them, but backed out earlier this year. It’s too bad. I would have liked to see Haye getting the stuffing beaten out of by brothers. Now it’s sounding like Haye wants another crack at them. I wonder if he’s serious about fighting them?

“The Klitschkos don’t care about being great fighters, whereas I do,” Haye said. Yeah, right. Haye really impressed with his timid looking performance against Valuev. Haye was running for his life all night long, circling the ring and looking like someone who was concerned about getting knocked out again. If Haye really cared about being a great fighter, then why didn’t he go after Valuev and try to knock him out from the 1st round on? That’s what entertaining fighters are supposed to do, right?

The Haye-Valuev fight was hard on the eyes. I seriously almost fell asleep while watching it. I would have hated the fight anyone, but what made it even worse was all the talk that Haye had done before the fight. He made it seem as if he was going manhandle Valuev and knocked him out immediate -or at least try to. Haye ran instead and landed single shots for the entire night.

“As far as the fight itself goes,” Haye said talking about this Saturday’s Johnson-Klitschko bout, “it’s one of the most unappealing heavyweight title fights for a while – and that’s saying something. They may be big in Switzerland, but so are yodellers, and nobody wants to watch them fight.” Maybe it is a boring fight, but so what. Haye is about to fight his own boring fight in early 2010 against John Ruiz.

It isn’t like there’s a ton of good heavyweights worth fighting. Klitschko is doing what he has to do, fighting an unbeaten fighter. What more can you ask for from Vitali. The other top contenders are as little known as Johnson and way too green for Vitali to fight. Even Haye wouldn’t be ready for a fight against Vitali. Haye needs a minimum of three good years of experience at the heavyweight level before he’ll be ready for the likes of either of the Klitschko brothers. By then, both Klitschko brothers will be long gone.
