By Sam Gregory: On the undercard of tonight’s ShoBox The New Generation undefeated Henry Crawford 22-0-1 with 9 KO’s of Paterson, New Jersey faces 22 year old Antwone Smith 16-1-1 with 8 KO’s in a scheduled 10 round bout in the welterweight division.

Round 1 both men came out throwing their jab, Crawford landed a couple more solid shots. Crawford was the faster man; Smith used his defense to block most of the punches but Crawford won the round.

Round2 Crawford threw punches in flurries and landed the harder shots. Both men fought in the center of the ring; Crawford had the advantage landing more punches and having a better defense blocking most of Smith’s punches. Crawford was the aggressor and won the round.

Round 3 Crawford had good footwork and landed the more accurate shots. Crawford used angels and doubled up on combinations. Smith suffered a gash over the left eye on what appeared to be an accidental clash of heads.

Round 4 Crawford came out strong throwing and landing solid combinations; Smith landed a solid uppercut and was very game in this round being more aggressive winning this round. Crawford was hurt by the body punch that Smith landed.

Round 5 Crawford stayed on his opponent throwing solid combinations and getting his punches off first. Crawford started looking tired in this round; Smith landed more solid combinations, Crawford was back pedaling, Smith won this round.

Round 6 Smith came out firing combinations and Crawford went down. Smith stayed on Crawford who wasn’t throwing punches; his hands were at his side not answering with any punches at all. The commentators were calling for the fight to be stopped. Crawford barley made it to the end of the round. Smith won this round big!

Round 7 Smith was clearly in control at this point in the fight. Crawford was backpedaling, both men looked tired and Crawford slowly regained his composure, Smith didn’t take advantage as Crawford got his second wind and finished the round.

Round 8 Crawford looked fresh again in this round; both men were throwing and landing single shots; they clinched, the ref pushed them apart. Crawford was walking around in the ring throwing single shots; Smith didn’t land anything of significance.

Round 9 both men fought in the center of the ring; Crawford began letting his hands go and landed some solid shots. Crawford looked like he was back in this round doubling up on his punches. Both men were going toe to toe. Smith landed a big right hand that dropped Crawford who again barley beat the count.

After the 9th round the referee stopped the fight. Antwone Smith handed Henry Crawford his first defeat. Smith officially won by TKO.
