Dirrell-Froch: Talk is cheap

dirrell343234By John Dimeck: Well, it’s almost upon us, the much anticipated super six tournament begins this weekend and myself and other boxing enthusiasts will enjoy a great set of matchups. Fans and wannabe pundits have traded verbals over who will do what to whom but the time for the gloves to do the talking is very near.

There have been quite a few gag type articles on the internet, and some good ones too, but the truth is that nobody knows what the future holds, especially when it comes to making fight predictions.

But while we’re talking trash talk, does anyone else recognize the backing down of one or two of Dirrell’s supporters?

Like the kid who yapped off at school, only to realise the bell was soon going to ring and they’d have to put their money where their mouth is, it seems one or two of Dirrell’s best writer mates have now backtracked a bit and even Dirrell himself is reluctant to dish any more ahead of this Saturday’s showdown. You know why that is? It’s because he is going to get bullied from start to finish by a very tough hombre called Carl Froch. That’s ok, I do not blame Dirrell, and neither do I blame any other boxing ‘experts’ (ahem) for changing their minds at this point, it simply means that they’ve seen the light.

Let’s put it his way: Carl Froch will easily beat Andre Dirrell on the weekend, or I will not write another boxing item again. I did not box too much myself, after my boxing coach caught me smoking cigs he would not allow me back in the gym as he told me “quit cigs or boxing, it’s one or the other.” Sadly I smoked for a few more years and my early love of the sweet science never went any further, at least in the ring. So I think I’d be an easy match. For any pro Dirrell boxing writers who want to have some fun. I’d love to lace ’em up again though, if Froch is beat I’m prepared to put my gloves on again if I’m wrong, any takers?
