By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten lightweight contender Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) is quickly on his way to becoming a major star on HBO, and his good ratings for his recent win over Vicente Escobedo seems to prove that he’ll soon be a huge pay per view star if he can keep winning a little while longer.

HBO Should Give Back To Fans with a Junior Welterweight Tournament in 2013
By Mark Uliano: In recent weeks we have seen HBO put on some fights that made the boxing public scratch our heads. Last night we saw Adrien Broner and Vicente Escobedo, a fight that up until hours before the first bell rang we weren’t sure if it was going to happen. After Broner failed to make the agreed on rehydration weight the fight was up in the air until Escobedo finally decided to take more money.
Escobedo suffers broken nose and injured arm in Broner fight
By Dan Ambrose: Vincente Escobedo (26-4, 15 KO’s) really took some punishment in his 5th round TKO loss to Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) last Saturday night. Escobedo suffered a broken nose in the 3rd round when he was hit by elbow from Broner, and he also was hit with elbow on his right bicep that made the arm nearly useless to him.
Escobedo: Broner is the best fighter I’ve ever faced
By Scott Gilfoid: Vincente Escobedo (26-4, 15 KO’s) paid his respects to Adrien Broner’s huge talent by saying he’s the best fighter he’s ever fought in his career. This comes after Escobedo was destroyed by Broner last Saturday night in a 5th round TKO loss that was televised on HBO and beamed across the United States. Broner definitely showed that he’s got the goods to take over for Floyd Mayweather Jr. when he retires in the near future.

Merchant: Broner won’t last long at lightweight; he’ll outgrow the division in a year
By Jason Kim: HBO analyst Larry Merchant doesn’t see former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner lasting long at lightweight. Merchant sees this a stop off for the 22-year-old Broner that will likely last only one year before he gets too big for the division with increasing weight and has to move up to light welterweight.
Broner: If DeMarco doesn’t fight me next, I’ll take Ricky Burns
By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) says he wants to take on WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (27-2-1, 20 KO’s) in his first fight at lightweight later on this year. However, if DeMarco won’t fight him, then Broner wants to face WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns next.
Broner: I’ll fight Brandon Rios at a catchweight
By Chris Williams: If Top Rank promoter Bob Arum wants to get a big fight for his struggling with weight fighter former WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios (30-0, 22 KO’s) he should look at Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s), who said he’s interested in fighting Rios next at a catchweight. Presumably the fight would be at 138 lbs, since Rios now fights at 140 and Broner is moving up to the lightweight division at 135.

Escobedo had to face a bigger sized Broner, who failed to make weight on Friday for the fight, and also came in over the 140 pound rehydration weigh-in on the day of the fight.
