sturm55By Jim Dower: Former WBA/WBO middleweight champion Felix Sturm (38-3-2, 17 KO’s) made easy work of an over-matched #4 IBF Predrag Radosevic (27-1, 9 KO’s) in stopping him in the 4th round on Saturday night at the Westfalenhalle, Dortmund, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Sturm dropped Radosevic three times in the fight before the bout was halted in the 4th round. Radosevic was down once in the 3rd round from a hard left to the midsection, and twice more in the 4th causing the fight to be halted.

Sturm was the must stronger fighter from the get go, as he pounded Radosevic with hard sweeping hooks to the head and body again and again in the first two rounds. Radosevic looked so much smaller than Sturm, and it just made you wonder why he had chosen the middleweight division to be fighting in instead of the 154 or better yet the 147 lb. division. Radosevic looked at least 15-20 pounds lighter than Sturm out there, and Sturm isn’t considered to be a big middleweight.

Radosevic had the better hand speed, and he was able to hit Sturm with an occasional looping right hand and left hook, but the shots didn’t register because he was hitting someone with a lot more weight and height. It was like hitting a lump of iron. Radosevic needed more weight and power for his shots to have had any real effect on Sturm.

The fight was pretty much over once Sturm dropped Radosevic in the 3rd round with a hard left to the body. Once Sturm figured out that Radosevic couldn’t handle his body shots, Sturm went back to that punch repeatedly. Radosevic was constantly backing up and wanting no part of getting hit to the body from the 3rd round, but it was no use. Sturm caught him with hard body shots in the 4th and sent him down twice in the round to get the stoppage.

Sturm will now possibly face the winner of the Daniel Geale vs. Darren Barker fight.
