Image: Roach to Mayweather: Don't call Pacquiao "little man"By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach came to his fighter Manny Pacquiao’s rescue in a recent interview after reading how Floyd Mayweather Jr. refereed to Pacquiao as little man. Roach didn’t care for that comment despite the fact that Mayweather is at least a couple of inches taller than the 5’6” Pacquiao and has the longer arms. What’s the problem with Mayweather calling Pacquiao “Little man”? It’s accurate, isn’t it? He can’t exactly call Pacquia “Big man,” can he?

Roach told datrurthsports.com “You [Mayweather] don’t call him little man, because we don’t know who you’re referring to, because Manny will be a lot bigger than you when he’s standing over you in the ring.”

Mayweather is going to seem a lot bigger than Pacquiao when and if they get in the ring because of Mayweather’s super reach, boxing skills and ring generalship. We just saw Pacquiao get a gift decision against Juan Manuel Marquez and it’s no longer even a question whether Mayweather will be the smaller Pacquiao.

It’s a done deal once the fight is signed, but I have doubts that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum will allow his little cash cow to fight Mayweather. I think Arum is talking a lot by mentioning investors working on putting the fight together, but I don’t believe a word. Putting Pacquiao in with Mayweather is the equivalent of Arum putting his other cash cow fighter Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in with Sergio Martinez.

You noticed how Arum hasn’t done that? Because he knows Martinez will destroy Chavez Jr. and send him back down to being just a mere contender. Arum isn’t going to risk having the gravy train ended by Mayweather killing the golden goose Pacquiao.
