The Legendary Pacquaio vows to knock out Mayweather

By Amar Jahangir: Manny Pacquiao looks set to fight Floyd Mayweather Jnr on March 13 after agreeing to a proposal from Bob Arum. Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz said Arum presented the fighter with the proposal at a two-hour breakfast in Manila on Friday. “The requests of Manny were so realistic that Arum doesn’t feel it’s a problem and it’s pretty much a done deal,” Koncz said.
“We talked to Arum and he had the March date and May 1 available and Manny chose the earlier date because of the elections in the Philippines, and I can’t wait to get started,” Roach told Sky Sports News.
“It’ll be the biggest fight of all time, the biggest pay-per-view event of all time and my main sparring partner will be Amir Khan.
“There’s always negotiations, like he (Mayweather) wants 10oz gloves we want 8oz gloves, stuff like that, the weight he wants is 154lb, we want 147, so there’s some issues but I think it can be solved.
“It’s a tough fight because his style does give us difficulties, and we need to draft a plan for a new strategy. Yes, it’s a tough fight but it’s a fight Manny wants.”
Both fighters have claims to the right to be called the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, and it appears matters will be settled sooner, rather than later.
Personally I can’t wait for this fight, the American Mayweather has been cherry picking his fighters but now he must go face to face with one of the greatest of all time fighters, Mayweather will not be able to handle the amazing combination and angle punches of the future Hall of Famer Manny Pacquaio.

when cotto started boxing instead of brawling he actually did fairly ok against pacman. mayweather is much better at boxing on the outside then cotto so this is going to be a very difficult fight for pacman.

what i really like about pac is the punch he learned from watching local movie.. don’t know if you remember the punch he throw while his head is being push down(forgot his opponent but it happened in his last manila fight).. i don’t know what kind of punch it is(probably behind the backpunch) but it sure shock his opponent AND also the right uppercut coming from the left(or left-back if his opponent is too slow)side when he moves to the side of his opponent.. a uppercut coming from right between his opponents armpit thats one hell of a punch..lito lapid??
My prediction;
Fight 1: Manny takes the 1st four rounds, then Floyd starts picking him off. Floyd by decision.
Pac / Roach ask for & get rematch in early 2011.
Fight 2: Manny by decision in a tactical but exciting bout.
Fight 3: We’ll see.
At $200 mil a pop ain’t no way the promoters & HBO put these cash cows out to pasture after one fight.
This will be a billion dollar trilogy.

Manny pacquiao has never fought a master defensive counter puncher like floyd. How will he handle the cleverness of floyd? Will Manny’s aggressiveness lead him to a perfect counter from floyd? Manny’s defense when his on the attack is a little open for counter shots. This is a fight very hard to predict and it makes it interesting. I know floyd will be forced to fight more then usual. I know Manny will be forced to use his defence more then usual. WHO WINS? You tell me because i dont know.
Zab Judah gave mayweather problems for the first 5 rounds. Judah is good aggressive fighter for only 5 rounds. Jose Luis Castillo gave floyd a very close first fight. Castillo also a good aggressive fighter. De La Hoya when fought floyd aggressive gave him problems. Will Manny the best aggressive fighter maybe of all time give him problems?

When PBF was cleaning out the welterweight division Cotto was still and after thought. Then when Cotto was getting somewhat hot he got whipped by Margarito. Lets not forget PBF fought most of his career below 140 and he only has had six fights over 140 Shambra Mitchell, Zab Judah , Baldomir the Undisputed Welterweight Champion, Oscar cash cow De la hoya, and a undeafeated Ricky Hatton…. And he took a comeback fight against Juan Marquez

Pacquiao knocking out Mayweather would be a perfect end to end his career. However,Mayweather hardly lets himself get hit, so a knockdown is far from a possibility. My prediction is Mayweather would struggle in the first rounds. He would slowly adjust and start picking off Pacquiao. Wild pressure won’t work for Pacquiao because Mayweather is used to it by now. The late rounds would be a total landslide for Mayweather and lead him to a unanimous decision. But this is boxing…who knows!!!!

10 oz gloves are standard. Manny wants 8oz punchers gloves. Floyd says 154, Manny says 147, sounds to me like floyd is using weight as a negotiating tool to get the gloves (stanard) he wants. The fight will probs be at 147, with 10 oz gloves. shrewd negotiating on behalf of floyd. Disagree with that comment on khan – fine, he may not have footwork near floyd’s, but there isn’t anyone else above light welter as quick as floyd but khan. He punches ligher and doesn’t have the lightning left hook, but with straight punches he’s as quick easily. Makes sense as that’s the biggest adjustment Manny has to make for floyd as he’s never faced anyone that quick. Mayweather’s faced Moseley and Judah both of whom are seriously fast fighters. Manny needs to train for the speed. Still think Floyd will beat him and not by running.

This is all negotiating red tape. You start high so you can meet in the middle somewhere. Mayweather knows he is not going to get Manny to agree to 154. So, they will meet somewhere in the middle. Possibly 150. The gloves are standard 10 ounces for any fighting weight past 147. In Nevada, 10 ounce gloves are used in any match over 135. That rule was lifted for the Cotto Margarito fight. The gloves go with the weight of the bout.
True welters weigh-in officially at 147lbs. but by the night of the fight all true welters put on weight and are in the mid 150’s thats why Maywheather asked for the 154 limit so he wont be weight drained ie;Cotto/DeLaHoya. The 10 oz. gloves are standard(RULE)for the welter weight division. If PBF fights with the welterweight normal rules, he wins!
If Manny gets his concessions again 147lbs. ceiling weight weight for the night of the fight and 8 0z. gloves, he wins! Why? because Maywheather will be starched and wont be able to summon his legs and speed in the later rounds and will give the edge to Pac to get him in the later rounds ie; Cotto.
