Image: Rios vs. Murray: What a mismatch!By Scott Gilfoid: WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios has picked from the bottom of the pool to select John Murray for his next fight on December 3rd fight. I can’t think of a worse mismatch this one. It’s a beauty of a mismatch if that’s your cup of tea. The thing is Murray actually thinks he’s going to win the fight. Can you believe that?

For fans, don’t blink your eyes on December 3rd because you might miss the fight. It’s going to be brutal yet quick with Rios hitting Murray and then Murray hitting the deck for the 10 count.

Murray told the BBC Sport: “Brandon Rios is a great come forward fighter same as myself, but I just think these weaknesses in his offense are something I can exploit and I’m ultra confident I can win this fight and win the world title.”

Frankly, I don’t see any resemblance between Rio’s style of fighting and that of Murray. It’s like night and day. Rios is fast, powerful and a great pressure fighter, whereas Murray is slow, with moderate power, very hittable and walks into shots. We’re talking two different levels of fighters here. I would much prefer to see Rios fighting a quality world class fighter than taking on a guy that just got royally spanked in his last fight against Kevin Mitchell. What’s with Rios fighting a guy that was just beaten? What happened to facing guys that were doing well, looking good and winning?

On December 3rd, it’s going to be like dishes falling to the floor and breaking in a million pieces when Rios lands one of his big shots in the 1st round. Murray will hit the deck and not get up and we’ll be wondering why in the heck this fight was ever made in the first place. And I’ll be here to tell you I told you so.
