huck563By Allan Fox: A rematch between WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (35-2-1, 25 KO’s) and Firat Arslan (32-6-2, 22 KO’s) is possible for this summer, according to Kalle Sauerland. Huck defeated the 42-year-old Arslan by a controversial 12 round unanimous decision last November in Germany in a fight that Arslan dominated.

The judges gave Huck the decision by the scores of 115-113, 115-113, and 117-111. Huck took a real beating in that fight, and appeared to only win four rounds at best, but the judges gave it to him anyway. 2012 was a really lucky year for Huck because he perhaps should have lost all three of his fights that he had.

Huck was beaten by WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin by a 12 round majority decision in February in a foul-plagued fight, and then Huck fought to a controversial 12 round draw against Ola Afolabi in May. Huck fought poorly and was dominated in the first six rounds, and appeared to lose two out of the last six rounds. The judges saw the fight differently, giving Huck a draw.

It’s hard to see Arslan fighting a better fight than he did last time against Huck. It was the perfect fight no matter how you look at it. If that’s not going to be good enough for Arslan to get a decision against Huck, then he should perhaps not waste his time or efforts unless they can have the fight staged outside of Germany in a neutral country.

That’s obviously not going to happen, so it’s going to be up to Arslan whether he wants to take a chance and find himself on the losing end of another controversial decision.
Huck has had a number of fights during his career where he appeared to lose but was given either wins or draws.

Here are Huck’s controversial fights during his 9 year pro career:

Vadim Tokarev – Huck given 12 round majority decision in May 2007 in a fight where Huck looked to have won only 3 rounds tops.

Denis Lebedev – Huck totally dominated by Lebedev and yet still wins a 12 round split decision in December 2010.

Ola Afolabi – Huck given a 12 round draw with Afobai in May 2012. Huck appeared to win four rounds.

Firat Arslan – Huck given a 12 round unanimous decision over Arslan in November 2012. Huck looked like a clear loser in that fight.
