Marquez thinks Mayweather will Easily Beat Pacquiao

By Manuel Perez: Well, it appears that I’m not the only who thinks that Manny Pacquiao is going to have his backside handed to him when he eventually fights Floyd Mayweather Jr. I’m now hearing the latest boxing news that the great Juan Manuel Marquez also sees Mayweather as beating Pacquiao, and beating easily.

Pacquiao/Mayweather: Pre-Destined?

mayweather432By Trevor Weis: The King has been challenged. Mayweather ended his 21-month layoff showing no signs of rust or age, dismantling the technical veteran Juan Manuel Marquez in 12 one-sided rounds. The former pound-for-pound king made Marquez look like a sparring partner, rolling his shoulder and dancing away from punches. Money landed close to 50% of total punches, while Marquez was only able to land an embarrassing 12%, with only 21 jabs throughout the 12 round fight.

Pacquiao-Mayweather: Manny Needs to Accept Less than a 50-50 Purse split

pac4455889By Manuel Perez: Floyd Mayweather Jr. made it abundantly clear yesterday in a conference call that Manny Pacquiao would have to take less than a 50-50 purse split if he wants to get in the ring with Mayweather. Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum aren’t going to accept less than a 50-50 split, so the chances of a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight are pretty much nil at this point.

Pacquiao Not Likely to Face Mayweather in 2009

By Manuel Perez: Well, according to the latest boxing news, it appears doubtful that Manny Pacquiao will be fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2009, says Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum. Instead, it looks as if Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, or Edwin Valero will be next up for the Filipino star. Since Pacquiao wants to get the huge payday that a bout with Mayweather will give to him, it’s doubtful that Cotto or Mosley are in the picture for 2009 either.

Why is Pacquiao Fighting on October 17th?

By Manuel Perez: For a fighter that only fought two rounds and barely got punched a half dozen times, it seems odd that Manny Pacquiao has decided to sit out of boxing until October 17th. That’s five long months which is an extraordinary amount of time for a fighter that fought only two measly rounds.

Freddie Roach on Possible Pacquiao-Mayweather Showdown

roach63223By Sam Gregory: Floyd Mayweather coming out of retirement is major boxing news even though Floyd himself has never made such a claim. The BBC managed to catch up with Mayweather at his pre-Super Bowl party in Ybor City, Fla. Saturday night before the big game. Despite bombarding Floyd with as many questions in as many ways as possibly to ask the same question, the answer remained the same; Floyd has no intention to step out of retirement now or anytime in the foreseeable future to fight Ricky Hatton or anyone for that matter.

Fights That Should Happen/Need To Happen In 2009

mayweather655576By Simon Hirst:

Joe Calzaghe vs Chad Dawson

First of all, people who have read my article may know I am a British fan, yet I choose skill over nationality and try to be as unbiased in my articles as I can. I would prefer to stick to facts more than opinion, but as it’s an article, I like to get my point across. Now I would want this fight to happen purely because Dawson is up there in the light heavyweights who Calzaghe hasn’t beaten. Personally I think the division is one of the most boring and least competitive divisions, so I can’t blame Dawson for having very little on his record that we can shout about.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao – The Fight That Has To Happen

Image: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao - The Fight That Has To HappenBy Adam McGarry: Think about that for a second, really think about it. Sounds good , yeah? Current pound for pound Number one Manny Pacquiao against pound for pound king (Number 0?) Floyd Mayweather Jnr. The shouts of ‘That won’t happen’ can be heard already, but it’s not impossible. I believe, along with many, that Floyd Mayweather isn’t done with the sport, he’s just not interested in fighting anyone recently who he doesn’t see as any sort of threat to his throne.
