By Mark Havey: Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, KO’s 38) is the only man to ever win world titles in 8 weight division. He won fighter of the decade and seems to have been around forever. After 18 years as a professional and many hard wars, people are now considering his health. The brutal 6th round knockout he suffered at the hands of Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez is worthy of concerns for Pacquiao’s brain and health.

Being quietly concerned is a world apart from publicly claiming health problems are there. But that is exactly what has hit the news recently when neurologist Dr Rustico Jimenez claimed he spotted signs of Parkinson’s disease in the Filipino legend. I first read the news on this site. I have to admit, the article made me laugh.

By Chris Williams: It’s interesting to see some of Manny Pacquiao’s excuses for his 6th round knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez last month. Pacquiao says that he simply got “Overconfident” while trying to take Marquez out in the last seconds of the 6th round. I think this isn’t giving Marquez any real credit for the skill that he showed in timing Pacquiao.

Marquez didn’t win that fight because of anything that different that Pacquiao had done. If you look at all of Pacquiao’s fights he always rushes in against his opponents looking to nail them with fast combinations. The difference here is that Marquez simply waited, saw the opening and nailed Pacquiao with a right hand with a lot of power behind it.

By Chris Williams: Both ESPN and RingTV have selected the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez 4 as “Fight of the Year” for 2012. The reason the reason this fight was picked is fairly obvious because of the back and forth nature of the fight, including the way that Marquez came back in the 6th to KO Pacquiao when things were starting to look a little bleak for Marquez.

Besides the great highlight reel knockout that Marquez recorded in the 6th in knocking Pacquiao out with a right hand, there was the sudden 3rd round knockdown where Marquez blasted the Filipino to the canvas with a big looping right hand to the head. Up until then, Pacquiao had been mostly dominating the action in the 1st and 2nd rounds, and the start of the 3rd.

By Gerardo Granados: In the eyes of many of his loyal fans Pacman was simply indestructible and no one could ever defeated him unless by the using illegal substances. At a lot of boxing sites you can read comments of sorrow and frustration of Pacquiao fans that express their sadness for having witnessed that his idol was human after all. Even a friend of mine who is a casual boxing fan knows that it was not a lucky punch.

But, was Pacman indestructible or was he a talented fighter who was brought up to stardom by a smart promoter? Maybe the young boxing fans don´t remember Pacquiao as a flyweight fighter but since then he draw the attention of fans with his violent attack and power. He was knocked out twice before his brutal and dramatic knockout loss to Marquez, if the readers have the time to look up for the video of flyweights Rustico Torrecampo and Midgeon Singsurat versus Manny to watch the fights you will see a normal fighter getting knocked out.

By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao getting poleaxed in the 6th round by Juan Manuel Marquez has been selected by readers as the KO of the year for 2012 at RingTV.com. It was a pretty easy choice because it was the perfect shot by Marquez that left Pacquiao out cold on his face with his body looking somewhat like a wooden plank that you’d see on an old pirate ship.

The choices for the KO of the year were as follows:

• Danny Garcia’s 4th round KO of Erik Morales
• Adonis Stevenson’s 1st round KO of Jesus Gonzalez
• Mikkel Kessler’s fourth round KO of Allan Green
• Shinsuke Yamanaka’s 7th round KO of Tomas Rojas

By Chris Williams: A big part of what led to Manny Pacquiao getting knocked clean out by Juan Manuel Marquez in the 6th round on December 8th was Pacquiao’s foolish mistake of trying to finish off the skilled Mexican warrior after cutting him on the bridge of the nose in the 5th round. Marquez sensed that Pacquiao had changed his game plan after seeing Marquez’s blood and attempted to blast him out with nonstop punches in a wild man approach.

It was the exact wrong thing to do against Marquez because he was able to take advantage of Pacquiao’s out of control fighting style to knock him out with a perfect right hand.
