Roach says “Don’t be surprised if we [Pacquiao] get him [Margarito] in the first”

Image: Roach says "Don't be surprised if we [Pacquiao] get him [Margarito] in the first"By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach has got to be the most vocal trainer that ever existed in his backing of his fighter Manny Pacquiao. Roach has been talking 24/7 about the upcoming fight between Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito for months, and seems to have gone past the normal role for a trainer into the role of a promoter in trying to gain interest for the fight. However, Roach has often worked against drawing interest in the fight by often talking down the bout by putting Margarito down as a fighter without skills.

Pacquiao says the catch-weight “Benifits me”

Image: Pacquiao says the catch-weight "Benifits me"By Dan Ambrose: Manny Pacquiao openly admitted in a recent meeting with reporters that the 150 pound catch-weight will be benefiting him and not his opponent Antonio Margarito on November 13th. When asked who the catch-weight will benefit, Pacquiao said “The catch-weight will benefit me.” He then explained why, saying “He will have to come down from 154.” Pacquiao will be fighting Margarito for the vacant World Boxing Council junior middleweight title in this fight held at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington. Texas. It’s unclear who’s idea it was to have the fight take place at 150 rather than the full regulation weight of 154 for the vacant title, but you can bet that it wasn’t Margarito that asked for this.

Roach thinks they were making fun of him about his disease, and isn’t happy about it. In an article at Ringtv.com, Margarito has this to say: “I was not making fun of Freddie. When I was shaking my hands, I was just saying ‘Man, I’m really scared.’ I think that people misunderstood that. That’s what happened. It was a misunderstanding. I have nothing against Freddie Roach. I respect him as a great trainer.”

Arum concerned that Pacquiao could lose to Margarito

Image: Arum concerned that Pacquiao could lose to MargaritoBy Jason Kim: The last thing that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum wants is for his top fighter Manny Pacquiao to get beaten by one of his stable fighters Antonio Margarito this Saturday night when they meet up at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington, Texas. Margarito was one of the top welterweights in the division two years ago, but has lost a lot of his luster since then with a knockout loss to 38-year-old Shane Mosley last year, and then a mediocre performance against fringe junior middleweight contender Roberto Garcia in May of this year.

Will Pacquiao fight any harder because Margarito hurt Roach’s feelings?

Image: Will Pacquiao fight any harder because Margarito hurt Roach's feelings?By Dave Lahr: I hate to break this to all the Manny Pacquiao fans but it doesn’t matter a bit that Antonio Margarito kicked some dirt on his loving trainer Freddie Roach recently by mocking the way he moves. Pacquiao won’t be able to fight any harder than he already is and if he goes over board just to try and get revenge for Roach, he’s just going to get knocked out that much quicker by Margarito. You see Pacquiao is just too small to hang with a warrior like 5’11” Margarito, and even with Pacquiao’s handicapping 150 pound catch-weight to help him try and be competitive, he’s still just too small for Pacquiao and is going to get his backside handed to him this Saturday night at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington.
