By Eric Thomas: Antonio Margarito’s loss to Manny Pacquiao last November might prove a costly one for the 33-year-old Margarito (38-7, 27 KO’s), as not only did Margarito suffer a broken right orbital bone from that fight, which was bad enough to require surgery, but Margarito also suffered a detached retina in his right eye. That injury, along with the broken orbital bone, threaten Margarito’s career.
Pacquiao vs. Margarito
Too bad Pacquiao didn’t defend his WBC catch weight title
By Chris Williams: I was really counting on seeing Manny Pacquiao defend at least once his WBC junior middleweight catch weight title that he won over fellow Top Rank fighter Antonio Margarito in his last fight in November.
Roach was clueless about Pacquiao being hurt by Margarito in the 6th
By Dave Lahr: Trainer Freddie Roach didn’t have a clue that his fighter Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KO’s) was badly hurt by Antonio Margarito in the 6th round of their fight in November 2010. Margarito, not a big puncher, nailed Pacquiao with two hard left hooks to the body that had Pacquiao clearly hurt and about to drop to the canvas in agony. How Roach could have not seen this is strange given that it was seen by pretty everyone and Roach was right there at the ring apron and should have spotted it.
Froch & Pacquiao: Give these fighters the credit and respect they deserve
By Alex Sharp: (Photo Tom Casino / Showtime:) Now we are nearly through this busy period of boxing we can sit back and reflect on the last few weeks of boxing. There have been many of predictions about what is going to happen who is going to win, who is going to get knocked out, who is going to get shown up, and to be honest I am sick of hearing people talk utter rubbish about fighters that deserve to be shown more respect than they are.
Why do Pacquiao fans think Pacquiao-Margarito was an exciting fight?
By Dave Lahr: If you read comments or listen to fans of Manny Pacquiao you’ll notice that almost every one of them think his fight with the slow as molasses Antonio Margarito was a “good fight.” They think it was a competitive bout and thrilling to watch. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think it was. From what I saw of the fight, it looked like a terrible mismatch from the 1st round until the last. I fail to see where it was competitive, except perhaps one round when Margarito landed a body shot that had Pacquiao looking uncomfortable for a brief moment.
Pacquiao-Margarito brings in 1.15 million PPV buys and possibly more
By Dan Ambrose: The November 13th clash between Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KO’s) and Antonio Margarito (38-7, 27 KO’s) at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, reportedly brought in at least 1.15 million pay per view buys, according to boxing news from Dan Rafael of ESPN.
Antonio Margarito – Redemption of the heart
By By Ibrar Arshad: After a long time I have decided to write an article again. The reason for my absence is the amount of ignorance I was beginning to see in boxing fans on this website, as well as the poor articles that other authors were posting. Sometimes it’s disheartening to see fans of a sport that I so dearly love, overlook values that every boxer has ever laid out in their careers. Unfortunately a lot of boxing fans have become disrespectful to the sport they claim to love. I have read remarks that are hateful, racist and completely unreasonable. It really has become sad.
Jeff Mayweather says he puts asterisks next to Pacquiao’s recent wins
By Dave Lahr: Jeff Mayweather, the uncle of unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., is skeptical and less than impressed with Manny Pacquiao’s recent wins as he’s moved up in weight against fighters like Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Joshua Clottey, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. In an article at fighthype.com, Jeff makes it clear that he thinks it’s strange that Pacquiao is beating these bigger guys given that he felt he lost both of his fights with Juan Manuel Marquez in the past.
Roach doesn’t think Margarito will ever be the same again after the beating he took against Pacquiao
By Dan Ambrose: Freddie Roach believes that Antonio Margarito’s corner should have pulled the plug in his loss to Manny Pacquiao in the 9th round to save him from needless punishment. Roach sees it as a situation where Margarito’s inexperienced corner left him in too long to take punishment when he had no chance to win. However, Margarito was still landing punches and Pacquiao’s shots weren’t hard enough to hurt him and put him down. With the kind of money and fame that Margarito would have won had he defeated Pacquiao, you can’t blame him for wanting to continue fighting.
Ariza thinks Pacquiao would have destroyed Mayweather last Saturday
By Dave Lahr: Alex Ariza, Manny Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach, believes that Pacquiao would have destroyed Floyd Mayweather Jr. if it had been him in the ring with him instead of Antonio Margarito. Using a catch-weight of 150 pounds, Pacquiao defeated Margarito by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision at the Cowboys Stadium to capture the vacant World Boxing Council junior middleweight title. Pacquiao has received a lot of criticism for both fighting at a catch-weight for a title and because his opponent Margarito had only fought once at junior middleweight in the past six years.
