Early Betting Odds Listed for a Potential Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Bout: And the Favorite Is…

pac438By Giancarlo Malinconico: Bettingzone.co.uk has listed Floyd “Money” Mayweather as a 4/9 or slightly more than 2-to-1 favorite over Manny Pacquiao if a fight were to emerge between the two superstars. Floyd’s dominating performance over Juan Manuel Marquez is the most likely factor in skewing the odds in his favor. If Pacquiao, however, is successful and impressive against Miguel Cotto you can expect the odds to tighten up a bit. But it’s clear: Mayweather will be close to a 2-to-1 favorite against the Pac man.

Why Cotto will land Pac flat on his back!

cotto43434By Al Francis: A fight aptly billed as “Firepower” sees the consensus pound for pound best boxer in the world Manny Pacquiao challenge Miguel Cotto for the Puerto Rican’s WBO welterweight strap. Pacquiao has been installed by the bookmakers as a very solid favorite to win the much anticipated dual but on this occasion I feel they’ve got it terribly wrong.

November 14th = A Bad Day for Pacquiao

BY Manuel Perez: I’m kind of feeling sorry for Manny Pacquiao right now. I know that’s hard for people to understand because they see Pacquiao as one of the best fighters in all of boxing. Granted, Pacquiao has achieved some things by beating Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya recently. Pacquiao is now seen in lofty terms as a fighter that is greater than his actual ability. That’s the problem.

Santiago: “Pacquiao is a bloated 126 pounds”

pac54455By Manuel Perez: Miguel Cotto’s excellent trainer Joe Santiago had some insight into Cotto’s opponent Manny Pacquiao, saying to El Nuevo “Manny Pacquiao is a bloated 126 pounds. He’s a fighter who started at 108 pounds and has reached 145. It is very bold and so far has gone well, but on November 14, it’ll be different.” This is the first person that has come forward and said exactly what I’ve thinking for a long time about Pacquiao since he started moving up in weight.

Roach Wants Pacquiao to Fight Mayweather Before Retirement

pac4543By Manuel Perez: It looks like Manny Pacquiao is really interested in trying to become a politician. I wish him a lot of luck. His trainer Freddie Roach said this to GMA News: “I would like (Manny) to finish with beating Mayweather.” Finish with beating Mayweather? What is that about? Pacquiao hasn’t even fought Miguel Cotto yet and already Roach is having visions of Mayweather. Someone needs to wake Roach out of his reverie and delusions of grandeur. Pacquiao is going to be picking up his teeth on November 14th when Cotto sends Pacquiao packing his bags for his political career.

Time to be realistic about Pacquiao

pac4542349By Liam Santiago: After many months of illusion hype towards the Pac-Man, it is time for boxing fans to open their eyes and get real. Pacquaio is a good fighter, but not a great one. I am 100% sure he will lose to Miguel Cotto in November, probably by knockout. If he does not, I will never writer another article on boxing again.

“You want your respect, go get it son”

cotto3243559By Will Cruz: I guess I could say I’m surprised, but in reality I’m not. This week’s Ring Magazine’s ridiculous pound for pound and divisional rankings were updated after the Mayweather beat down of lightweight Juan Marquez. I’m not one to pay too much attention to P4P ratings because I have always believed they are bogus.

Cotto and His Team Not Believing the Hype

cotto323528By Will Cruz: “Yo no me como ese cuento”, I won’t eat up that tale is what Miguel Cotto Sr. said in a recent interview with El Nuevo Dia newspaper in Puerto Rico. He is referring to the publicized news that Pacquiao has not begun his training and instead has been relaxing and having a good old time filming movies and game shows. Cotto agrees with his dad which is why he visited the gym even throughout the press tour last week to maintain his work rate.

Roach: “If You Go Out There Looking for a Knockout, You might Get Caught Yourself”

roach346433By Manuel Perez: At yesterday’s press conference at Monday’s press conference at the Beverly Hills hotel, Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, had his usual standard pearls of wisdom for the reporters, remarking “I think this is going to be a 12-round fight. No knockout. This guy [Miguel Cotto] is very resilient. If a knockout comes, it comes, but if you go out there looking for a knockout, you might get caught yourself. We have to be very tactical.” In other words, Pacquiao needs to try and protect his noggin from getting tagged by Cotto on November 14th.

Roach Denies that Pacquiao takes Steroids – News

roach3445By Eric Thomas: Freddie Roach, the trainer for Manny Pacquiao, denies that Manny takes steroids, saying in an interview at Boxing Fanhouse “Well, we [Pacquiao] have taken him a couple of times to be tested, and we haven’t tested positive yet…all Manny’s on is white rice.” Yesterday, Floyd Mayweather Sr. had mentioned to the Grand Rapids Press that Pacquiao might be taking steroids. The interview quickly caught on with a number of sites with some boxing fans wondering if Pacquiao had been juicing (using steroids) in the past to gain weight for his fights against Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.
