Teddy Atlas: Roach built his career on already made fighters

atlas6By Dan Ambrose: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley’s trainer Teddy Atlas came firing back at Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach this week in response to Roach saying that he didn’t see any improvements that Atlas had made since he took over as the trainer for the 32-year-old Bradley.

Roach also said that Bradley is already a finished product, a made fighter in other words, and that there’s nothing that Atlas can add to his game.

Pacquiao: They [Mayweather] didn’t want to accept that they lost

pac999By Chris Williams: After losing his last fight by a 12 round unanimous decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. eight months ago in May 2015, Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) wants to make sure he gets a clear win over WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (33-1-1, 13 KOs) in their fight on April 9th.

Pacquiao still is under the belief that he deserved the decision against Mayweather, even though many boxing fans believing that it was the correct decision the three judges handed down.

It’s kind of surprising that Pacquiao still believes he should have won that fight, because it seems to cut and dried that Mayweather was the better fighter through the 12 rounds of that fight.

Tim Bradley: I won’t run from Pacquiao

bradley99999By Chris Williams: It was thought by some fans that new trainer Teddy Atlas’s game plan for his fighter WBO welterweight champion Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (33-1-1, 13 KOs) to use in his third fight against Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) will be one in which Bradley uses frequent circular movement around the ring in their bout on April 9 on HBO pay-per-view.

However, Bradley is saying that he’s not going to run from Pacquiao in the fight. He says he’s never run in any of his fights, and he’s not going to start now. Boxing fans would argue that Bradley ran much of the time in his win over Juan Manuel Marquez in 2013 in a fight in which Bradley was booed loudly much of the fight due to his movement, and in his first fght with Pacquiao in 2012.

Roach: I don’t think this will be Pacquiao’s last fight

YouTube video

By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum isn’t the only person connected to Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) who doesn’t see his April 9th fight against WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (33-1-1, 13 KOs) being the last fight of his career. Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach also doesn’t believe that Pacquiao will retire after the Bradley fight on HBO PPV. Roach sees Pacquiao continuing his boxing career even after he’s elected into the senate in the Philippines in May.

Pacquiao: Bradley has changed a lot with trainer Teddy Atlas

pac#6By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) is saying that his opponent WBO 147lb belt holder Tim Bradley (33-1-1, 12 KOs) has improved since the last time the two of them fought each other two years ago in April 2014 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao won that fight by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 116-112, 118-110 and 116-112.

Pacquiao had little problems out-slugging Bradley to win an easy 12 round decision. The fight was so one-sided that it makes no sense for the two of them to face each other again. However, with Pacquiao’s 84-year promoter Bob Arum having a habit of making in house fights involving his own Top Rank fighters, a third fight between Pacquiao and Bradley was a predictable match-up.

Their last fight against each other brought 800,000 pay-per-view buys in 2014, and Arum doesn’t have anyone else in his Top Rank stable that he could put in with Pacquiao to bring in those kinds of numbers; not that the third fight will necessarily bring in those numbers. Arum is obviously hoping the fight will.
