Roach: Pacquiao-Marquez 5 will break PPV records

roach34By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach sees the fifth fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez as breaking the six-year pay per view mark for the highest PPV buys ever in boxing in a 2007 fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. That fight drew an incredible 2.4 million buys.

However, it had two huge PPV stars facing each other, so it was a lot easier for that fight to do huge numbers compared to the fifth fight between Manny and Marquez.

Roach said to fighthub.tv.com “I think this will be the biggest seller ever in boxing.”

Hatton: I don’t want to see a fifth Pacquiao-Marquez fight

pac88By Chris Williams: Former two division world champion Ricky Hatton doesn’t see any point in Manny Pacquiao taking on Juan Manuel Marquez for a fifth time. Hatton thinks there are signs there that Pacquiao may not have it anymore and he doesn’t want to see him go out and take another chance against Marquez and possibly end up getting knocked cold again.

Speaking with esnewsreporting.com, a fleshy and happy looking Hatton said “If you ever see me knocking about, buy me a point.” When asked if he would like to see Marquez and Pacquiao fight again for a fifth time, Hatton said “Not at all. I think the writing is on the wall in a sense, not the last fight with Marquez but the previous fight, he had that. Then he fought Bradley, which I thought he won but he didn’t look great, and Marquez isn’t a puncher; he’s a technician.”

Is Marquez hitting harder or has Pacquiao’s ability to take a punch decreased

pac8By Chris Williams: In trying to figure out why Manny Pacquiao was blasted out so viciously by Juan Manuel Marquez last month I’m kind of torn between wondering whether the 39-year-old Marquez was hitting harder in this fight than he had in the three prior fights the Filipino star or if Pacquiao simply can’t take hard shots anymore.

Pacquiao was hit by two hard punches from Marquez last December and both shots put Pacquiao down flat on the canvas. We hadn’t seen that in the last 8 years in their previous fights. Pacquiao had always been able to take Marquez’s best shots without getting close to falling down from the impact. Marquez didn’t hit Pacquiao any more than he had in the previous three fights. The only difference I could see is that Pacquiao couldn’t take the shots.

Should Pacquiao retire if he gets knocked cold again by Marquez?

pac912By Chris Williams: We already know that Manny Pacquiao is dead set against retiring following his brutal 6th round knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez last month. We know that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is eager to put Pacquiao back in with Marquez and he feels that a tune-up is pointless for the Filipino.

Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee and his mother both want him to retire from boxing, as well as Filipino Dr. Rustico Jimenez. The question is will Pacquiao continue to fight if Marquez knocks him out cold just like he did last month on December 8th or will Pacquiao stubbornly refuse to hang up his gloves and instead blame on the loss on being overconfident?

Marquez should ask for a 50-50 purse split for Pacquiao rematch if Arum insists on blood testing

marque34By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum may look to have random blood testing for the rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez next September. According to Philboxing.com, Arum will be insisting on the random drug testing to be conducted for this fifth fight.

If that does turn out to be the case then I say Marquez should ask for a 50-50 purse split because he’s going to have endure the hassle and pain of have his blood tested constantly over a matter of weeks before the fight if they do use random drug testing.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez 5: signs seem to be pointing to a September bout

marquez68By Omar Torres: Seems like all signs are pointing to Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez for the 5th time in September 2013. Marquez has said that his boxing status was up to his wife. If she thought he should retire, he would rise into the sun set and retire. If she permits him to take on the Pacman one final time he would be open for negotiations.

Pacquiao’s camp seems to believe that Manny will get a chance to redeem himself for this past December’s defeat, and Pacquiao is not ready to hang up the gloves just yet. Bob Arum has also came out publicly and said that a fifth fight between Pacquiao and Marquez was imminent, which most likely means the next night Marquez and Pacquiao will have will most likely be between each other with no tune up match in between for both boxers which is exciting.

Is Random Blood Testing a good thing now?

By Babatis Banda: We all know that the biggest fight of the sport did not take place because of RBT. So much has so far happened over the years. Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino icon refused to agree to the full random blood tests that Floyd Mayweather wanted in their first negotiations in 2010, and and instead, he went the way of the law for comments Mayweather made. With rumors that Arum will ask for RBT for the 5th Marquez vs. Pacquiao bout, I beg to ask; has RBT become a good thing now?

Arum to insist on random drug testing for Pacquiao vs. Marquez 5

marquez4By Chris Williams: It’s hard to believe it but Top Rank promoter Bob Arum reportedly will be insisting on random drug testing for the 5th fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Arum’s fighter Manny Pacquiao in September, according to Philboxing.com. This is interesting because when Floyd Mayweather Jr. was fighting for random blood testing during his failed negotiations for a fight with Pacquiao in 2010, he was met with resistance.

Now all of a sudden everything is changed Marquez having put on muscle and knocked Pacquiao out in the 6th round of their fight last month. I think Marquez should say no deal. Who wants to end up like whale getting harpooned with needles 24/7 at any times.

Pacquiao to continue fighting despite advice from neurologist to retire

pac89By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao isn’t listening to the advice given to him from Filipino Dr. Rustico Jimenez, who suspects that Pacquiao may be showing signs of early Parkinson’s disease after reportedly seeing “twitching” of Pacquiao’s hands while watching him on television. Jimenez didn’t perform an examination on Pacquiao and that’s the whole problem. Jimenez should have examined Pacquiao first before he started with the Parkinson disease talk.

Jimenez is worried that Pacquiao may end up in a wheelchair if he continues to fight. Pacquiao was knocked out in the 6th round by Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8th, and it was an especially bad knockout where Pacquiao lost consciousness. Naturally, the knockout loss has a lot of people concerned about Pacquiao’s health, and this doctor Jimenez appears to be yet another person with concerns.
