Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Nicholas Walters – Official weights

lomachenko975

By Chris Williams: WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) weighed in successfully at 130 pounds on Friday for his fight former WBA World featherweight champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada. Walters weighed in at 129.5lbs.

Their fight will be televised on HBO World Championship Boxing on Saturday. Walters will likely rehydrate a great deal by the time he steps foot inside the ring on Saturday night. In his fight against Miguel Marriaga last year, Walters rehydrated to 145lbs. That’s quite a bit of weight for a fight that previously held the WBA featherweight title.

Nicholas Walters: I’m going to KO Lomachenko

lomachenko86

By Chris Williams: WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) could be suffering his first knockout defeat of his career this Saturday when he faces former WBA 126lb champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) on HBO Boxing at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Walters is predicting a knockout win over Lomachenko. He’s not saying which round he’ll be knocking out the two-time Olympic gold medalist, but he definitely is picking himself to win by a KO.

Walters doesn’t care that his promoter Bob Arum has been looking past this fight on Saturday by taking up a potential fight between Lomachenko and Manny Pacquiao in 2017. All Walter knows is that he’s going to be the one winning the fight on Saturday.

Will you score the Lomachenko vs Walters fight?

lomachenko86

By Gerardo Granados: This Saturday night on November 26, WBO super featherweight Champion Vasyl Lomachenko (W6-L-0-D0) will fight against former WBA feather Champion dangerous puncher Axe Man Nicholas Walter (W26-L0-D1) on HBO World Championship Boxing from the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hopefully this great match up does ends up in an epic battle, instead of a dirty war due the ineptitude of the referee. Last week there was a controversial ruling by the judges, but to be fair, we should admit that the Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward bout was far from being easy to score.

Lomachenko-Walters: Does Nicholas need a KO to win?

walters

By Allan Fox: Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) is coming into this Saturday’s fight against WBO upper featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) as the undercard and in a tough situation in facing one of Top Rank’s rising stars.

Walters is kind of in a bad situation in taking on the 28-year-old Lomachenko, because he’s the clear B-side in this fight, and that’s not a good position for him. Walters, 30, is not accustomed to being the underdog in his fights, so it’s interesting that he’s now in position where he’s expected to lose the fight.

Arum wants Lomachenko vs. Pacquiao in 2017

lomachenko9

By Chris Williams: WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko could be facing Manny Pacquiao in 2017 if he gets past former WBA 126lb champion Nicholas Walters this Saturday night in their fight on HBO World Championship Boxing from the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum reminded fans on Monday that he’s interested in putting the two-time Olympic gold medalist Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) in with Pacquiao possibly next year if he keeps winning. Unfortunately for Arum, Lomachenko, 28, might lost his fight this Saturday night against Walters, because this is a guy with crashing power, a long reach, and top rate boxing skills.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Nicholas Walters this Saturday

lomachenko97

By Chris Williams: WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) will be defending his title this Saturday night against unbeaten former WBA featherweight champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) in the biggest fight of his career on HBO Boxing from the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Lomachenko-Walters fight has a start time at 10:35 p.m. ET/PT. It should be a good fight. Walters is the underdog, but it doesn’t matter. It’s an even fight. Walters just needs to make sure the fight doesn’t go to the cards, because he’s clearly the B-side in this fight. Walters needs to make sure he leaves no doubt who the better fighter is between the two if he wants to rip Lomachenko’s WBO title from him.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Nicholas Walters preview and analysis

By Dan Ambrose: WBO super World super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) will be making a dangerous title defense next month on November 26 against former WBA featherweight champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in Nevada. Former two division world champion Mikey Garcia is picking “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko to win the fight. The Lomachenko vs. Walters fight will be shown on HBO World Championship Boxing starting at 10:35 p.m. ET/PT.

Garcia doesn’t say why he thinks the 28-year-old two-time Olympic gold medalist will be winning, but it could be due to Lomachenko’s recent success in defeating Roman “Rocky” Martinez by a 5th round knockout last June, and his 12 round majority decision win over Gary Russell Jr. from June 2014. Those are easily Lomachenko’s two best wins of his seven-fight pro career.

My Overturned Bias Against Lomachenko

Vasyl Lomachenko

By Earl E: I reside in Los Angeles, specifically within a 60-mile radius said to have the most boxing gyms per capita in the world. There are boxing gyms everywhere, in backyards, plazas, indoor swap meets, corners, and stand-alone buildings. Being raised in this area, we grow a bias towards the American and Hispanic boxer, because they are among us, a part of our communities. My bias led me to watch the Vasyl Lomachenko vs Orlando Salido fight, cheering for the latter to teach Lomachencko a lesson.

Here, I thought, is an over glamorized amateur fighting for a world championship in only his second professional fight. Naturally, I wanted Salido to win this fight. I went through my checklist why I disliked Lomachenko, as follows, but not limited to:

Lomachenko-Walters fight has Arum excited

lomachenko9

By Chris Williams: After the previous failed negotiations for a super fight, WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) and Nicholas Walters (26-0-1, 21 KOs) were finally able to get a fight put together for them to face each other on November 26 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum believes that the 28-year-old Lomachenko is the best fighter in boxing. I’m not sure if the facts bear that out. Lomachenko is a good fighter, but up until recently, he was more of a boxer rather than a puncher. Arum sees Lomachenko as a puncher now, and I still don’t think that’s accurate. We’ll have to see.
