Pacquiao dreamed he lost to Mayweather one month before fight

1-MAYPAC-FIGHTNIGHT-TRAPPFOTOS-5691By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao says he had a dream that he was going to lose his fight to superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. one month before the two of them faced each other last May in the “Fight of the Century” at the MGM Grand on May 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao says he saw himself losing to Mayweather by a 12 round decision, and he says he feels blessed that God showed him what would happen in the fight ahead of time.

It’s not know if Pacquiao didn’t try as hard to win because of this dream or what, because a lot of boxing fans felt that Pacquiao gave less than 100% of himself in trying to win the fight. He fought in an unusually passive way compared to many of his other fights, and it wasn’t the usual Pacquiao that many fans had previously come to know in his 20-year pro career.

Mayweather with one more chance for Pacquiao rematch

YouTube video

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) might only have one more shot at getting a big money rematch against Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) now that Pacquiao is talking about possibly retiring in early 2016. Pacquiao wants to put his concentration on being a senator in the Philippines.

Pacquiao, 36, still has win a seat in the senate in the upcoming May elections in the Philippines in 2016, but given his huge popularity, the chances are good that he’ll win the position.

Pacquiao rematch for Mayweather would generate big money

1-MAYPAC WEIGH IN-TRAPPFOTOS-3996By Chris Williams: If Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) chooses to come back in 2016, he almost has to fight Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) to go for his 50th win of his career. The money is too good for Mayweather not to fight the 36-year-old Filipino fighter.

Mayweather and Pacquiao could face each other at the new Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. By then, many of the angry boxing fans will have forgotten about the disappointing fight between the two superstars last May at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao: I want a rematch with Mayweather!

Image: Pacquiao: I want a rematch with Mayweather!By Allan Fox: Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) says he wants a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) now that he’s learned that Mayweather used an IV drip to rehydrate the night before their fight on May 2nd. Pacquiao thinks Mayweather should possibly be punished by the Nevada State Athletic Commission if found guilty of violating WADA’s anti-doping rules.

Pacquiao is unhappy because he feels that Mayweather got an unfair advantage over him for their fight on May 2nd with him rehydrating with the help of an IV drip the night before the fight on May 1st.

Koncz: Mayweather should give Pacquiao a rematch

koncz888By Dan Ambrose: Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz and promoter Bob Arum aren’t too happy about Floyd Mayweather Jr. having taken an IV drip of 700ML the night before the Pacquiao fight on May 1st to rehydrate. While the substances in the IV drip were harmless vitamins and saline salutation, it was still a controversial move due to it being banned under the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines.

Koncz says that under the circumstances Mayweather should give Pacquiao a rematch. In other words, give him a rematch to clear up the controversy and make things good.

Report: Mayweather used IV drip before Pacquiao fight

Floyd Mayweather JrBy Allan Fox: It’s being reported that Floyd Mayweather Jr. allegedly used an IV drip the day before his May 2nd fight against the Philippines’ Manny Pacquiao to help rehydrate before the big “Fight of the Century” at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The USADA made a statement saying that Mayweather informed them about the IV drip infusion before he started, and they in turn passed this information along to both the Nevada State Athletic Commission and Manny Pacquiao.

Here’s Floyd Mayweather Jr’s statement on the IV drip mess:

“As already confirmed by the USADA Statement, I did not commit any violations of the Nevada or USADA drug testing guidelines. I follow and have always followed the rules of Nevada and USADA, the gold standard of drug testing. Let’s not forget that I was the one six years ago who insisted on elevating the level of drug testing for all my fights. As a result, there is more drug testing and awareness of its importance in the sport of boxing today than ever before. I am very proud to be a clean athlete and will continue to champion the cause.”

The fight broke pay-per-view records in bringing in over 4.4 million buys. Pacquiao was beaten by a 12 round unanimous decision. The Mayweather needed the IV drip to rehydrate, according to SB Nation.

Espinoza interested in Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch

Image: Espinoza interested in Mayweather-Pacquiao rematchBy Chris Williams: Stephen Espinoza of Showtime Sports says he would be interested in a rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) and Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) from a fan’s perspective, but he’s now sure if the outcome would be any different than the last time they fought on May 2nd.

Mayweather beat Pacquiao conclusively in winning a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 116-112, 118-110 and 116-112. Perhaps a more accurate score for the fight was the 118-110 score. The judges that scored it 116-112 must have watching another fight altogether because there’s no way that Pacquiao did that well in the fight.

Arum: Pacquiao and Mayweather could fight again

Image: Arum: Pacquiao and Mayweather could fight againBy Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum thinks that a fight between his fighter Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. could wind up fighting again next year, but he feels that a lot of things would need to fall in place for that fight to happen. Arum doesn’t say what those things are.

It’s obvious that Mayweather will need to not retire after his September 12th fight against Andre Berto, because he’s been saying repeatedly that he doesn’t want to continue on after this fight. An another thing that needs to happen before a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch takes place is Pacquiao’s surgically repaired right shoulder needs to be fully rehabbed and be in tip top shape before he can get back inside the ring with Mayweather.

Roach: Pacquiao will do much better against Mayweather in rematch

1-MAYPAC-FIGHTNIGHT-TRAPPFOTOS-5568By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach is like a dog that can’t let go of an old bone when you’re trying to wrestle it away from him to give him a nice fresh bone. Roach wants his fighter Manny Pacquiao to get a second shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. so that he can fight him with two healthy shoulders the next time around to show the boxing world that he wasn’t the fighter that was humiliated last May in losing a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao has had shoulder surgery since the fight to repair a torn right rotator cuff, and we don’t know if the Filipino fighter will ever regain the full strength and flexibility in his shoulder.

Pacquiao still wants rematch with Mayweather in 2016

Image: Pacquiao still wants rematch with Mayweather in 2016By Chris Williams: While Floyd Mayweather Jr. is talking about retiring after his next fight on September 12th in his fight against Andre Berto, former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao is insisting that he still wants a rematch with Mayweather in 2016 so that he can avenge what he feels was a controversial 12 round decision loss last May at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao still believes that he should have been given the decision over Mayweather because he was taking the fight to him and was the one doing all the work. However, if Mayweather is to change his decision about retiring then it’s going to take the action of Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank to try and talk Mayweather out of it by reminding him that they would like a rematch with him.
