This will be the toughest fight for Usyk ((-0, 9 KOs) since he turned pro in 2013. Usyk hasn’t been tested yet since stepped up to the pro ranks, so this should be interesting to see how he does against Glowacki. There are some boxing fans who feel that the 6’0” Glowacki is the best fighter in the cruiserweight division.

By Jeff Aranow: Unbeaten WBO cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Głowacki (26-0, 16 KOs) and #1 WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk (9-0, 9 KOs) met earlier on Wednesday for their press conference in Warsaw, Poland to speak about their fight on September 17 at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland.

The two unbeaten fighters faced off with each other, and you could see that the 2012 Olympic gold medalist Usyk was the bigger looking guy of the two. Usyk smiled in a way that showed that he’s confident of hanging the 29-year-old Glowacki his first defeat of his career. Glowacki surprised a lot of boxing fans with his 11th round knockout win over longtime WBO champion Marco Huck last year in August 2015.

By Eric Baldwin: Unbeaten WBO cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Glowacki (26-0, 16 KOs) and #1 WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk (9-0, 9 KOs) have reached an agreement for a fight on September 10 or 17 in Poland, according to Fight News. Glowacki and Usyk’s agreement in the negotiations means there won’t be a purse bid.

It should be a great fight. Glowacki, 29, has defended his WBO title once in beating fringe contender Steve Cunningham last April by a 12 round decision. The southpaw Glowacki captured the WBO cruiserweight title last year in August in stopping Marco Huck in the 11th round after knocking him down twice in the round. Glowacki was knocked down himself in the 6th round by a hard right hand from Huck.

Cunningham’s chin betrays him against Glowacki

1-Glowacki v Cunningham_Fight_Ryan Greene _ Premier Boxing Champions7By Scott Gilfoid: Steve Cunningham (28-8, 13 KOs) fought well enough to be within striking distance of beating WBO cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Glowacki (26-0, 16 KOs) if it hadn’t been for Cunningham getting knocked down four times in the fight. If you take away those four knockdowns, Cunningham would have won the fight clearly.

Glowacki got the victory by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 116-108, 115-109 and 115-109 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. But you’ve got to ask yourself when was the last time you saw a fighter get knocked down four times and wind up losing by the slim 115-109 scores we saw in that fight.

Marco Huck vs. Krzysztof Glowacki: Heart – Hunger – Killer instinct

150814_Fights_2084(Photo credit: Ed Diller/DiBella Entertainment) By Gerardo Granados: Why is it that many of the so called big names can’t understand that it is not about to have an undefeated record or to bully past prime former belt holders, but instead it is all about of to witness actions of valor, courage and bravery mixed with boxing skills? What happened last night with undefeated challenger Krzysztof Glowacki (25-0, 16 KOs) stopping WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (38-3-1, 26 KOs) in the 11th round at the Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey was great even for the eyes of the boxing purists; and to deny the beauty of that fight means that the viewer must reconsider to watch another contact sport.

The fight was close and competitive and most important it was entertaining to watch. I´ll be honest because I knew very little about southpaw Glowacki and I thought that Huck was going to finish him off with quite ease but I was totally wrong. The statistics are just cold numbers and can’t show the heart, hunger and killer instinct that a lion possess.
