Haye interested in Klitschko rematch

haye343434

By Scott Gilfoid: If the cards play out right, 36-year-old David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) and 40-year-old Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) could meet up for a rematch in 2017 if Wladimir is able to beat IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to take his title.

Haye wants to fight the winner of the Joshua-Klitschko fight. He’s never faced Joshua, so obviously that’s a fight that he badly wants. But if Wladimir is able to go back to the Fountain of Youth to find the energy needed for him to beat Joshua, then Haye would love a rematch with him.

Both Haye and Wladimir will be at ringside on December 10 to scout out Joshua in his voluntary title defense against fringe contender Eric Molina (25-3, 19 KOs) at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Haye wants Wladimir rematch after shoulder injury heals

haye6544By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it didn’t take David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) long to start mentioning Wladimir Klitschko’s name following Haye pulling out of his previously scheduled fight against Tyson Fury due to Haye having shoulder surgery.

Rather than talking about healing up his shoulder to try and face Fury, Haye says he wants to heal up his shoulder and face Wladimir in a rematch. In other words, Haye would be skipping the fight with Fury, which was supposed to be a bout that would partially redeem Haye after his lopsided 12 round unanimous decision loss to Wladimir in July 2011.

Haye: I’ll be the mandatory for one of the Klitschkos in a couple of fights

haye24By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) believes he’s only a mere two fights away from becoming the mandatory challenger for one of the Klitschko brothers. Haye says he wants to fight WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko most of all because he said in the past that he wanted to knock Haye, #1 WBA, #4 IBF, #4 WBO, #5 WBC, out and improve upon the job that his brother Wladimir Klitschko did easily beating Haye by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision two years ago.

Haye said to Sky Sports “I want to regain the heavyweight champion of the world. I lost my heavyweight title to Wladimir Klitschko. I want the opportunity to win it back. I’m going to stay busy. I have a fight on June 29th. I’m going to do my thing, knocking people out as I always do and kind of force their hands and work my way up the heavyweight rankings. It won’t take too many fights before I’m the mandatory for one of the belts for one of the [Klitschko] brothers.

Vitali: Haye is going to have to wait for me to fight him

vitali223By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) says he plans on continuing his boxing career, and will be defending his title next against his mandatory challenger, which will be the winner of the Chris Arreola vs. Bermane Stiverne fight.

As far Vitali fighting former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s), Vitali says Haye blew his chance when he offered him the fight last September by turning it down.

Vitali said to the bbc.co.uk “He [Haye didn’t take the proposal, and right now if David wants to fight, he has to wait because I have to defend my title against official contender, and after that maybe if David Haye has a high position in the world rankings, we can fight each other, but definitely it will not be soon.”

David Haye willing to fight for mandatory position to get shot against Klitschkos

haye454By Allan Fox: With the Klitschko brothers having zero interest in facing former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s), it’s pretty clear that the only way Haye will ever be able to get a shot against one of them again is if he fights to become their mandatory challenger rather than continually pleading with them to give him a fight.

Haye, #1 WBA, #4 WBO, #5 WBC, has finally gotten the message that the best way to force the Klitschkos to face him is to fight to become the mandatory for one of them. In doing so they’ll have to agree to fight him, vacate or retire.

Haye would be smart to focus on going after Wladimir because Vitali would likely retire if Haye got to the mandatory position for his trap, and it’ll take at least a year to get there because there are four other heavyweights ranked above him by the World Boxing Council.

Haye missed his chance against Vitali

haye4543By Steven Ocallaghan: It looks like time has ran out on David Haye finally getting a crack at long time WBC heavyweight world champ Vitali Klitschko. Vitali had said that the deal was on the table for Haye but he turned that down. Haye had unfinished business with Derrick Chisora, so I can understand why that fight didn’t happen. The thing I can’t understand is why Vitali was willing to fight Haye last year but not now, so what is different?

Vitali is now 41 years old, 9 years older than Haye. Vitali is becoming more injury prone now. When Klitschko lost his first fight in defending his WBO heavyweight title against Chris Byrd, nearly 13 years ago, he dislocated his shoulder and the fight was then stopped. Vitali was easily winning the fight. If Vitali had managed to continue and lost all remaining rounds he would still have won the fight.

Haye: Beating the Klitschkos for their heavyweight titles is the only thing I haven’t done

haye674By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) has won world titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight, but he’s not beaten the Klitschko brothers yet, and that remains his last goal before he retires from boxing. Haye wants to beat WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, and then his little brother IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko when he attempts to avenge Vitali’s loss once Haye has beaten him.

Wladimir has already beaten Haye by a lopsided 12 round decision two years ago, but he says he fought with a broken toe and that kept him from fighting at high enough level to get the win.

Haye: Vitali is a kind of a puppet for Boente

vitali34454 - CopyBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye believes that WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko isn’t the one that picks his opponents out. Haye thinks it’s Vitali’s manager Bernd Boente who chooses his opponents for him rather than Vitali stepping up and saying he wants this or that guy.

Haye feels that Boente doesn’t want Vitali to face him for some reason. It’s hard to understand why Boente would want Vitali to not to face Haye because it’s easily the biggest money fight out there for Vitali right now, and it’s also a winnable one. We saw what Vitali’s brother Wladimir Klitschko did to Haye two years ago in an easy 12 round unanimous decision.

Haye: If Vitali fights one more time, it’s going to be against me

haye#2By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) doesn’t know if WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will ever fight again, but if he does he thinks it’s going to be against him. Haye feels he earned the shot against Vitali by destroying fellow Brit Dereck Chisora last year in July in a 5th round TKO.

Before that, Vitali’s manager had said if he wanted to fight Vitali, he should face Chisora and beat him. Haye took at him literally and went ahead and faced Chisora and made easy work with him.

It’s not as if there wasn’t anything in writing and it wasn’t Vitali who told Haye to fight Chisora, so it really doesn’t matter that Haye beat Chisora. He’s still likely not going to get the fight with Vitali.

Haye: I want Vitali and then Wladimir

haye2By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) says he’s not just looking to get one big fight against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and then go off into retirement. Haye says he wants to stick around long enough to unify all the heavyweight titles, and to do that he wants to fight Vitali, and then Wladimir Klitschko.

If Haye were to win both of those fights, he’d have all of the heavyweight titles in his possession so that he could then retire with them.

Haye said to AFP “The world needs one unified champion and I hope we can agree to fight at a football stadium in Germany this summer against Vitali. After I have fought Vitali, I want revenge against Wladimir to be able to unify the heavyweight titles, which hasn’t been done in several years.”
