March/April upcoming fights and odds: Pacquiao-Clottey, Froch-Kessler, Abraham-Dirrell

Image: March/April upcoming fights and odds: Pacquiao-Clottey, Froch-Kessler, Abraham-DirrellBy Richie Doyle: So now we finally here after months of lacklustre fights and no huge bouts we get two good months for the loyal boxing fans and gamblers looking to place a few wagers in the upcoming months so here are my best odds and tips.

Pacquiao vs Clottey: Look for this to be tough for pacquiao bet straight forward, attack from the off (like against cotto) and press a beat down towards the end of the fight but saying this I expect Clottey to reach the final bell as he’s never been KOd and has fought big punches in the past (Margarito) so at 13/8 Pacquiao by points or decision seems a good bet.

Kessler vs. Froch: What happens if Carl can’t stop Mikkel?

Image: Kessler vs. Froch: What happens if Carl can’t stop Mikkel?By William Mackay: For a number of boxing experts, they’re under the impression that WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch will be able to stop Mikkel Kessler at some point in their Super Six fight on April 24th. Some of them see the punishment that Kessler took in losing to Andre Ward in his last fight in November as evidence that Kessler is starting to slip as a fighter and is vulnerable to being stopped by Froch. That may or may not be true, but the one thing that we do know is that Froch doesn’t have the same boxing skills as Kessler.

Predictions: Froch, Dirrell and Ward to come out on top

Image: Predictions: Froch, Dirrell and Ward to come out on topBy Dennis Broadhurst:

Froch-Kessler: I see this fight coming out with Froch on top through a hard fought decision or very late stoppage. I think Froch will struggle in the early rounds with Kessler but his chin will take him through to dominate the later rounds (9-12). I would not be suprised for Froch to be dropped early on much like against Taylor but then coming back. I don’t think Kessler likes taking a hit (not that anyone does) he will backdown later on when Froch comes on strong with his powerful punches, thinking he will need a knockout to win and may score a stoppage but will have the last round rally he needed. Both men will be great on the night but I see a tight victory for Froch.

Kessler vs. Froch: Mikkel won’t be able to miss

Image: Kessler vs. Froch: Mikkel won’t be able to missBy Scott Gilfoid: I hope WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) lives it up and enjoys his fame while he still has his World Boxing Council super middleweight title, because after April 24th, the title will be resting in the capable hands of his Danish opponent Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s). Froch, 32, will be facing Kessler in their stage 2 bout of the Super Six tournament at the MCH Messecenter Herning, Herning, Denmark. I got a kick out of what writer Bill Dettloff of The Ring had to say about the Kessler-Froch fight, saying “Don’t be fooled into liking Carl Froch against Mikkel Kessler because of how awful Kessler was against Andre Ward, in terms of style. Froch is Ward’s polar opposite. Kessler will be hard-pressed to miss.”

It does not matter to me, I am planning to knock him out anyway.”

Kessler vs. Froch: Look for Mikkel to school Froch on April 17th

Image: Kessler vs. Froch: Look for Mikkel to school Froch on April 17thBy Scott Gilfoid: World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) will taste defeat for the first time on April 17th in his stage 2 Super Six bout against former WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) when they step into the ring for action in Kessler’s home country of Denmark.

Froch, 32, better get used to the experience, because he’s going to very likely be getting beaten against in his stage 3 bout in the Super Six tourney when he meets up a slightly tarnished Arthur Abraham, who will likely be fresh off a lopsided 12 round defeat at the hands of American Andre Dirrell.
