Image: Kessler: “Froch doesn’t fight well going backwards”Photo: Tom Casino/Showtime – By Scott Gilfoid: The new World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KO’s) summed up one of the biggest problems that former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) had last night in their Super Six tournament fight in MCH Messecenter Herning, in Herning, Denmark, saying “Froch doesn’t fight well going backwards.” I’m in agreement with that. Froch looked bad in getting backed up against Kessler much of the night, and wasn’t able to punch effectively when backing up and being pressured by Kessler. When the 32-year-old Froch would throw punches backing up, he lacked accuracy and power.

Apparently, there is talk of Froch’s next fight, a stage 3 Super Six tourney bout, taking place in Abraham’s home city of Berlin, Germany.

Kessler: “I’ll need to be an animal in the ring” against Froch

Image: Kessler: “I’ll need to be an animal in the ring” against FrochBy Sean McDaniel: Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) realizes some of the things he did wrong in his 11 round technical defeat to American Andre Ward last year in November 2009, and has worked hard on correcting those problems. One area that Kessler has spotted for improvement is his aggression. He plans on being much more aggressive in his fight on Saturday night against World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s), saying in an article at the Irish times, “I’ll need to be an animal in the ring. I’ve been working on my footwork and have sparred 174 rounds. Maybe I have been too nice before.” That could be.

Kessler vs. Froch: Look for knockout win for Mikkel

Image: Kessler vs. Froch: Look for knockout win for MikkelBy Toby Gibson: On the 24th of April, the most hyped and anticipated fight of the whole Super 6 will take place. Unbeaten world champion Carl Froch will travel to Denmark in order to try to take out former world champion Mikkel Kessler. This is seen by many as THE fight of the Super 6. Ever since Carl Froch beat Jean Pascal for the vacant WBC title, talks of a match with Mikkel Kessler have been circulating. This is a great opportunity to see these great warriors fight and is one match I believe should have happened in 2008/2009.

It’s then my job to cut off the ring and put him on his back foot and hammer home some big digs. Once I start hitting him, though, he might start holding.”

Kessler vs. Froch: Can Carl rough up Mikkel enough to win?

Image: Kessler vs. Froch: Can Carl rough up Mikkel enough to win?By William Mackay: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) probably doesn’t stand much of a chance of beating former WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) when the two fighters meet up in their stage 2 Super Six tournament bout on April 24th, in Herning, Denmark. Froch, a good puncher but exactly what you would call a highly skilled craftsman, doesn’t appear to have the prerequisite boxing skills needed to beat a talented fighter like Kessler.

Kessler vs. Froch: Does Mikkel school Carl?

Image: Kessler vs. Froch: Does Mikkel school Carl?By William Mackay: If this fight had taken place before last November, few boxing fans would likely give WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) much of a chance to beat Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s). What changed the perception in the minds of many fans is seeing how badly Kessler was beaten by 26-year-old Andre Ward on November 21st last year in their Super Six tournament fight in Oakland, California. Ward beat Kessler pretty much every way you can beat a fighter short of knocking him out.

Kessler vs. Froch: Will Carl lose his unbeaten record?

Image: Kessler vs. Froch: Will Carl lose his unbeaten record?By William Mackay: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch dodged a bullet in his last fight with Andre Dirrell last October.
