By William Mackay: Former World Boxing Association super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) got a new trainer Jimmy Montoya to help him get ready for his next fight against WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch on April 17th, in their Super Six tourney competition in Denmark. Kessler replaced his longtime trainer Ricard Olsen after Kessler lost a one-sided 11 round technical decision to young American talent Andre Ward on November 21st in the Super Six stage 1 part of the tourney.

Kessler vs. Froch: Can Carl’s heart overcome Mikkel’s talent?
By Sean McDaniel: On April 17th, World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) will be getting his long awaited wish by fighting Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’) in their Super Six tournament fight in Denmark. Kessler replaces trainer – News
By Sean McDaniel: Former World Boxing Association super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (42-2, 32 KO’s) has reportedly canned his longtime trainer Richard Olden. This is unexpected news, however, with Kessler getting badly beaten by American Andre Ward in a 11th round technical loss on November 21st. With a loss as bad as the one that Kessler experienced against Ward, it’s no great shock that Kessler’s trainer was replaced. However, it seems like a bit of a waste, because it’s unlikely that any trainer on earth could have helped Kessler beat Ward on that night.
If Kessler destroys Froch, does this win back respect for Mikkel?
By Scott Gilfoid: It was a sad sight to see former World Boxing Association super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler reduced to throwing wild haymaker shots against the younger, faster dare I say more talented American Andre Ward in their fight on November 21st. It was as if the 30-year-old Kessler grew old over night, going from the top of the pile in the super middleweight division to that of a former champion. Kessler took a terrible beating from Ward and never was in the fight for a second.
Will Kessler be facing retirement by the end of the Super Six?
By Chris Williams: Mikkel Kessler looked nothing like a champion in his loss to Andre Ward in an 11th round technical decision last weekend in their Super Six tournament bout . Kessler, 30, lost his World Boxing Association super middleweight title in a bout in which he was totally dominated by the young 25-year-old Ward. Although Kessler stated afterwards that he was bothered by the holding and head-butts from Ward, those obviously weren’t the reason for Kessler being so easily handled by the American.
Kessler will still dominate Froch – Prediction
By Scott Gilfoid: After watching last night’s one-sided beating of Mikkel Kessler by the new World Boxing Association super middleweight champion Andre Ward, I have serious doubts whether WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch will win the Super Six tournament. Actually, I give Froch zero chance of winning it. I think Kessler will make Froch look like a bumbling amateur when they fight, and I suspect that Ward knock Froch out when the time comes for them to fight.
Is The Super-middleweight Tournament The Best Thing To Happen To Boxing In A Long Time?
By Adam Laiolo: Our star is on the wane, whether we like it or not. Our sport is in grave danger of disappearing into obscurity. With UK firm Setanta going into administration, ESPN Wednesday Night Fights being pulled and rumors of HBO having trouble paying out for the biggest fights, boxing needs an injection of adrenaline. Cutting through all the politics between rival promotion companies, more belts than you can shake a stick at and whole divisions in a complete mess, something has got to give.
