Deontay Wilder vs. Hughie Fury possible for March

hughie933

By Scott Gilfoid: After turning down a world title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) in 2015, unbeaten #5 WBO, #13 IBF Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) could now be fighting him in March of 2017. Hughie and Wilder’s team are reportedly in talks for a fight in March.

This is interesting news, because I figured that Hughie would wait two or three more years before he fights for a world title. If he’s serious about wanting to get inside the ring with Deontay now, then he must really see some flaw in his arsenal that he thinks he can take advantage of. in fact, Hughie is yapping about seeing flaws in Deontay’s game that he believes he can exploit.

Anthony Joshua vs. Hughie Fury not happening for November 26

hughie93

By Scott Gilfoid: For the boxing fans that were hoping to see unbeaten Hughie Fury as the next opponent for IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua for his fight on November 26, it’s not going to happen. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn says that he’s far apart in the negotiations for what Fury wants and what he’s willing to give for a fight against Joshua on November 26.

Hearn says Hughie wants Joshua type money for the fight, and that’s not reasonable given that he’s a voluntary challenger. So instead of making the Joshua vs. Hughie fight on November 26, Hearn is saying that unbeaten #1 IBF mandatory challenger Joseph Parker is the leading candidate to get the fight against Joshua. Hearn says that Parker is being “reasonable” in what he’s asking for in the negotiations, and he feels he’s actually trying to make the fight. As such, the 6’4” Parker might get the fight simply by him not pricing himself out.

Hughie Fury vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. is off

hughie933

By Scott Gilfoid: It looks like the heavyweight clash between unbeaten Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) and Andy Ruiz Jr. (29-0, 19 KOs) won’t be taking place on the undercard of the Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko card next month on October 29 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK. Hughie’s trainer/father Peter Fury tweeted a message today saying that Ruiz Jr. has pulled out of the card.

Hughie, 21, and Ruiz Jr. were supposed to be fighting in a World Boxing Organization heavyweight eliminator fight. The winner of the contest would have been the WBO mandatory to Tyson Fury. That would have setup a weird potential scenario where Tyson could be looking at defending against Hughie.

By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) will be taking a slight step up next month in facing unbeaten Andy Ruiz Jr. (28-0, 19 KOs) in a WBO heavyweight title eliminator on October 29 on the Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II card at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

The Hughie – Ruiz fight will be the co-feature bout on the card, which will be televised on BoxNation. Hughie, 21, will be defending his World Boxing Organization Intercontinental strap. This isn’t a major world title unfortunately.

Hughie Fury vs. Andy Ruiz on October 29

hughie933

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #5 WBO, #13 IBF heavyweight contender Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs), the cousin of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, will be facing undefeated #3 WBO, #5 IBF, #7 WBC Andy Ruiz (28-0 19 KOs) on October 29 on the undercard of the Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko card at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

If Hughie beats Ruiz, it could put him in position to fight WBO champion Tyson Fury or IBF belt holder Anthony Joshua. I cannot immediate Tyson Fury fighting Hughie. I can’t see that happening, because I don’t think Tyson would ever do something like that. Hughie vs. Joshua would be a really, really bad idea as well.

Hughie Fury vs. Anthony Joshua will have to wait until 2017

joshua566

By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says that a fight was offered to unbeaten Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) for him to fight IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua but his team would rather the fight take place in 2017. Hughie’s trainer/father Peter Fury recently expressed interest in making a fight between the young 21-year-old Hughie and Joshua.

It’s unclear what made him change his mind about taking that fight, because it’s hard to imagine anything changing a year from now. I mean, I can’t see the 6’6” Hughie doing better against Joshua in 2017 than he could now. Heck, I can’t even see Hughie doing well against Joshua five years from now.

We’ve heard all the blather about Hughie being a different fighter once he gains his man strength, but if he hasn’t gotten any power by 21, I don’t see it ever happening.

Adrian Granat wants Hughie, Price and Whyte

povetkin-granat-2

By Scott Gilfoid: Adrian Granat is one of those new generation heavyweights with amazing size at 6’7 ½” and incredible punching power in his right hand. The 25-year-old Granat (13-0, 12 KOs) has targeted several of the UK heavyweights that he wants to bag to add to his collection of names on his growing resume of knockout victims.

Hughie still in the mix for Joshua’s next fight

hughie93

By Scott Gilfoid: Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) still has an outside chance of getting picked for IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s next fight in November, but it’s probably not a good chance judging by the comments from Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn. He has a number of other options and he’s not quite sure whether to match Joshua against Hughie at this time. Hearn says he’s tried to match Joshua against Hughie in the past but there wasn’t interest on his side at the time.

“We are talking to a few possible opponents about a November fight for AJ and as Hughie is in the IBF top 15, I’m happy to put him in the mix,” said Hearn to skysports.com. “As I understand it, Hughie has a UKAD hearing in November, so I’m not sure how that will affect things.”

Peter F. says Hughie Fury ready for Joshua

hughie933

By Scott Gilfoid: Hughie Fury is ready to challenge Anthony Joshua for his IBF title in November, according to Hughie’s trainer Peter Fury. He says Hughie (20-0, 10 KOs) is ready to step up and take the challenge against the unbeaten Joshua (17-0, 17 KO) for his strap. Hughie has had the fight offered to him in the past against Joshua, but he never accepted it.

This time, he and Peter are willing to take the fight. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has other options available to him besides just Hughie for his November fight. There’s former WBC champion Bermane Stiverne, #1 IBF mandatory Joseph Parker and former world title challenger Kubrat Pulev.

Hughie expects Tyson Fury to easily beat Wladimir

hughie1

By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated #6 WBO heavyweight contender Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) thinks his cousin IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) is on the verge of sending former unified world champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) into retirement when the two of them face each other on July 9 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Hughie, 21, feels that Wladimir was fully prepared for the fight against Tyson Fury last November when the two of them fought each other in Dusseldorf, Germany, and he doesn’t think that Wladimir can improve over the performance he put in that time.

Hughie thinks that it’s going to be an EASY fight for Fury this time around. He also thinks Wladimir will be sent into retirement in this fight, although he also believes that he would be the No.2 fighter in the heavyweight division and capable of beating ALL of the other fighters apart from Fury.
