Haye taking it easy preparing for Bellew

Image: Haye taking it easy preparing for Bellew

By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) doesn’t appear to be working hard in preparing for his fight in less than four weeks against cruiserweight Tony Bellew (28-2-1, 18 KOs) on March 4 at the O2 Arena in London, England. This week, Haye posted photos of himself relaxing in a Jacuzzi on what appears to be a beautiful yacht.

Haye had a drink of some sort in his hands. In another photo, Haye is shooting baskets. It doesn’t appear that he’s worried at all about his fight against the 33-year-old Bellew, and that’s quite understandable. The fight is perceived to be a huge mismatch of major proportions.

Haye says Tony Bellew looks fat

Image: Haye says Tony Bellew looks fat

By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye sized Tony Bellew up while they were taping ‘The Gloves are Off’ special for British television, and he says he saw a nervous fighter that look fat, and is ready to be knocked out quickly in their fight in a little over a month on March 4 on Sky Box Office pay-per-view at the O2 Arena in London, England. In looking at some recent photos of Bellew, he does look kind of blubbery around the jowls. He looks like he’s carrying around some useless extra weight.

Bellew has bulked up in weight to 225lbs in hopes of being able to defeat Haye. The problem with Bellew putting on weight is he’s not going to get a chance to test himself at the new weight before he faces Haye.

Haye wants Fury and Joshua as part of his last 5 fights

Image: Haye wants Fury and Joshua as part of his last 5 fights

By Chris Williams: David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) sees himself in the twilight of his boxing career with only five remains with one of them being against Tony Bellew, and possibly two others being against Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Haye, 36, wants to maximize his income before he calls it a day to become a fulltime promoter with Haymaker Ringstar with Richard Schaefer, the former Golden Boy Promotions CEO.

Haye has the Bellew (28-2-1, 18 KOs) fight scheduled for March 4 on Sky Box Office pay-per-view at the O2 Arena in London, England. Haye is hoping to make quick work of the 33-year-old Bellew, and then move onto bigger and better things against Joshua and Fury. The fight against Joshua is one that will almost surely happen, as his promoter Eddie Hearn is interested in the fight.

Haye: I can’t wait to get rid of Bellew

Image: Haye: I can’t wait to get rid of Bellew

By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye and Tony Bellew had an uneventful meeting for their The Gloves Are Off taping on Friday without the two of them going at it. Haye said they needed to have a 10 minute cooling off period when things started to get heated at one point.

Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) says he can’t wait to get the 33-year-old Bellew into the ring on March 4 so he can belt him around the ring and knock him out quickly. Haye says he’s hoping Bellew can bring some talent to the ring, because he would like to see the fight make it to the 5th or 6th rounds for the boxing fans. But, Haye doesn’t see the talented needed for Bellew to do much in this fight other than get knocked out quickly in front of the fans at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Haye-Bellew receive warning from BBBofC

Image: Haye-Bellew receive warning from BBBofC

By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight David Haye and Tony Bellew have both reportedly received warnings from the British Boxing Board of Control before they meet up in “The Gloves Are Off” special. Bellew and Haye got into it during their kickoff press conference on November 4 for their fight on March 4 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Bellew shoved Haye when he got too close to him, and this led to Haye appearing to swat him with a left to the chin. This all could have been avoided if promoter Eddie Hearn had made sure that the two fighters were kept separated, but he wanted them to have a face off because he thinks it’s needed to help drum up interested in the fight.

Making a case for Bellew: Heavyweights v Cruiserweights

Image: Making a case for Bellew: Heavyweights v Cruiserweights

By Gav Duthie: David Haye versus Tony Bellew, only a money fight surely? Bellew first called David Haye out after he spectacularly knocked out Illunga Makubu to win the WBC Cruiserweight title. If you’d asked me the day before that fight to name 20 possible next opponents for David Haye, Bellew wouldn’t be on there.

It seemed bizarre but now here we are, they will fight in March for nothing other than pride and of course lots of cash. A win over Bellew does nothing really for Haye in the heavyweight division. He could have secured a WBO title shot as mandatory against Joseph Parker and he is also well ranked with the other organizations.

Haye to Bellew: You’re not going past 4 rounds

Image: Haye to Bellew: You’re not going past 4 rounds

By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) is predicting an early end for cruiserweight Tony Bellew (28-2-1, 18 KOs) in their fight on March 4 at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Haye is predicting that he’s going to get Bellew out of there by the 4th round in their fight on Sky Box Office PPV. I think a lot of boxing fans would agree with Haye on that prediction.

Honestly, it’s hard for Gilfoid to take the Haye-Bellew fight seriously. It just looks an exhibition type of fight where the boxing fans see a couple of guys from divisions facing each other. I don’t think it’s a fair fight in any way, shape or form.

Bellew thinks Haye will quit against him

Image: Bellew thinks Haye will quit against him

By Scott Gilfoid: Cruiserweight Tony Bellew doesn’t seem to mind that he’s a huge underdog in his March 4 fight against heavyweight David Haye, because he believes that the 36-year-old former WBA heavyweight belt holder will quit when the going gets tough. Bellew (28-2-1, 18 KO) specifically believes that Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) will quit after he drags him into the later rounds, considering that he doesn’t see Haye as having the fight in him any longer.

Haye hasn’t quit before in any of his fights, so it’s hard to understand what Bellew is talking about. Is Bellew just blabbering to try and sell his fight or has he actually thought through his theory that Haye will quit when the fight gets into the second half?

Tony Bellew could stay at heavyweight after Haye fight

Image: Tony Bellew could stay at heavyweight after Haye fight

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has been given permission by the World Boxing Council to freeze his WBC title and move up to heavyweight to challenge David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) on March 4.

The fight is already sold out for the O2 Arena in London, England. It’ll be shown on Sky Box Office PPV despite the fact that it’s a non-title fight. Bellew (28-2-1, 18 KOs) has to inform the WBC shortly after the Haye fight whether he’ll be staying at heavyweight or coming back down to cruiserweight to defend his title against the winner of the Marco Huck vs. Mairis Briedis fight.

Bellew wants to unify cruiserweight division after Haye

Image: Bellew wants to unify cruiserweight division after Haye

By Scott Gilfoid: Tony Bellew (28-2-1, 18 KOs) says he plans on coming back down to cruiserweight after his March 4 fight against heavyweight David Haye (28-2, 26 KOs), because he has a goal of unifying the cruiserweight division. Bellew, 33, says that after he unifies the division, he’s going to move back up to heavyweight to have more fights up in that weight class.

For Bellew to unify the cruiserweight division, he’ll need to beat champions Murat Gassiev, Oleksandr Usyk and Denis Lebedev. That would be very hard for Bellew to do with the way he’s performed recently.
