Hatton doesn’t plan on changing his fighting style for Senchenko bout

Image: Hatton doesn't plan on changing his fighting style for Senchenko boutBy Scott Gilfoid: 34-year-old Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) is going to be stubbornly sticking with his old brawling style for his comeback fight against Ukrainian Vyascheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) later this month on November 24th at the Manchester Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena), in Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Hatton told interviewer Jenna Jay in her On the Ropes Boxing Radio program at Doghouseboxing.com “That’s what people like about me, so I don’t think my style will change…it’s still the same old Ricky.”

Hatton comeback after 3 year ring absence

Image: Hatton comeback after 3 year ring absenceBy Paul Walsh: As the media circus whips up frenzy and the social network rumours gather pace it finally becomes reality, Ricky the “Hitman” Hatton will once again lace up the gloves and enter the squared circle. I think the question we are all asking is why, what does he have to prove?

Then again after watching the press conference, listening to Hatton talk about how his appetite has returned and that “something” has been missing, you suddenly get a flash back of Hatton laid out flat in the middle of the ring and Manny Pacquiao standing over him. You think to yourself, I wouldn’t want to go out that way either.

Hatton v. Senchenko: Will Ricky go to pieces if he loses again?

Image: Hatton v. Senchenko: Will Ricky go to pieces if he loses again?By William Mackay: Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) didn’t handle it at all well the last time he got beaten in losing to Manny Pacquiao by a 2nd round knockout three years ago. Hatton fell into drink and good food, ending up overweight and unhappy.

To say that Hatton dealt with his loss the wrong way is an understatement. Instead of seeing the loss as something to learn from, Hatton pulled back from the sport and retired. It’s sad and disappointing that it took him three long years to finally get his act together and make a comeback, but better late than never I guess.

Hatton could be too faded to beat Senchenko

Image: Hatton could be too faded to beat SenchenkoBy Scott Gilfoid: While a lot of boxing fans are giving 34-year-old Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) a good chance of beating former WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) on November 24th in Manchester, England, what these fans are forgetting is how much wear and tear that Hatton has put on his body with his high living in the past 3 1/2 years out of the ring.

Hatton, a fabulously rich fighter, has been living well, eating and drinking well. Hatton packed on a lot of weight and has recently taken the weight off with exercise and diet. However, even though he’s taken the weight off and is ready to get back in ring, he’s probably not going to be able to take his body back to it’s former state. It’s a one-way trip, and Hatton isn’t the 30-year-old that he was when he stopped fighting close to four years ago.

Hatton-Senchenko to be televised by SHOWTIME in U.S on November 24th

Image: Hatton-Senchenko to be televised by SHOWTIME in U.S on November 24thBy Scott Gilfoid: Showtime will be broadcasting Ricky Hatton’s comeback fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) on November 24th at 5 p.m ET/PT fromthe Manchester Arena, in Manchester, UK. Get this, the fight is only 10 rounds, not 12 like normal big fights. For a main event that’s poor. Talk about stacking the deck on your favor.

I can understand why Hatton won’t want to fight 12, because it favors him in a short fight because he hasn’t fought for over 3 years, but come on what’s up with Showtime televising a main event that goes only 10 rounds?

Hatton vs. Senchenko: Should this be PPV?

Image: Hatton vs. Senchenko: Should this be PPV?By Scott Gilfoid: Ricky Hatton’s comeback fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko next month on November 24th will be available live for boxing fans on Primetime pay per view. Boxing fans will get their first glimpse of the 34-year-old Hatton since he was knocked cold by Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd, 2009.

That was 3 1/2 years ago and long enough ago to where it might not be a reasonable thing to ask boxing fans to have to pay to see Hatton fight, especially against a guy coming off of a 9th round knockout against the feather-fisted Paulie Malignaggi last April the way that Senchenko is. We just saw Malignaggi look horrible in barely beating a very average Pablo Cesar Cano last Saturday night in a controversial 12 round decision.

Hatton vs. Senchenko likely on PPV in UK & Showtime

Image: Hatton vs. Senchenko likely on PPV in UK & ShowtimeBy William Mackay: For boxing fans wanting to see Ricky Hatton’s November 24th fight against former WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko in the UK and U.S, they’re likely going to have to pay to see the fight because that looks like where the fight card is headed. Primetime has been mentioned as a possible PPV carrier for the fight.

In the U.S, the Hatton-Senchenko fight could wind up on Showtime. Its’ difficult to imagine the Haton-Senchenko fight being able to sell on PPV in the U.S, because Hatton has been out of the loop for so long and pretty much only hardcore boxing fans know who he is now. You can’t sell a Hatton-Senchenko fight to casual boxing fans without a popular American like Floyd Mayweather Jr. being the one to face him or someone like Manny Pacquiao.

Ricky Hatton in tip top condition for his fight with Senchenko

By Marcus Stewart: Ricky Hatton is without a doubt one of the best light welterweights of all time and generally one of the best boxers of all time. He is an icon, a legend, a force to be reckoned with. He’s shot down fighters such as Kostya Tszyu, Jose Luis Castillo and Juan Lazcano to prove why he’s a complete and utter animal in the ring.

Hatton to retire if he wins a world title in his comeback

Image: Hatton to retire if he wins a world title in his comebackBy Scott Gilfoid: Former two division world champion Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) reportedly plans on retiring if and when he picks up another world title, according to an interview of Hatton at the Telegraph. Hatton, 33, has a fight scheduled next month against a recently beaten up and badly exposed Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) at the Manchester Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena), Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Following that fight, if Hatton doesn’t get smashed, the word is he’ll likely face WBA World welterweight paper champion Paulie Malignaggi in a rematch. Hatton already beat Malignaggi four years ago by an 11th round TKO, so won’t be seeing much of a risk for Hatton.

Hatton vs. Senchenko: This will end badly for Ricky

Image: Hatton vs. Senchenko: This will end badly for RickyBy Scott Gilfoid: Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) is like a lot of old fighters that make the mistake of stepping away from the game and assuming he can come back in the same form that he was at when he left off from the game three years ago. The mind plays tricks on fighters by making them think they can still fight like they used to, but the fact is they rarely do.

The body ages, and the fighter ends up getting slapped around and humiliated 9 times out of 10 by some sorry opponent they take on early in their comeback. I see this as Hatton’s fate in his November 24th comeback fight agaisnt former WBA World welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) at the Manchester Arena, in Manchester, UK.
