Image: Hatton doesn't plan on changing his fighting style for Senchenko boutBy Scott Gilfoid: 34-year-old Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) is going to be stubbornly sticking with his old brawling style for his comeback fight against Ukrainian Vyascheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) later this month on November 24th at the Manchester Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena), in Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Hatton told interviewer Jenna Jay in her On the Ropes Boxing Radio program at Doghouseboxing.com “That’s what people like about me, so I don’t think my style will change…it’s still the same old Ricky.”

How sad. Hatton looks like he’s just begging to be knocked out again. His brawling style got him knocked out by Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Hatton’s lucky he didn’t get seriously hurt in getting knocked clean out by Pacquiao in 2009. And you can probably add Hatton’s fight against Juan Lazcano as another fight where he was basically stopped after getting hurt while trying to throw a leaping left hook.

Hatton was staggering around the ring and in the process of getting knocked out by Lazcano when Hatton was given a brief timeout to get his shoelaces. When have you see that before? I have never have seen a fighter staggering around and then having the referee halt the fight to him time to get his shoelaces tied. I’m sorry, I count that as a win for Hatton. That was clearly a win for Lazcano in my book.

Well, if Hatton is going to stubbornly fight with his old fighting style then he’s going to be asking for it from Senchenko. If I’m Senchenko I’d be looking to land a clean right hand each time Hatton throws one of his telegraphed left hooks. Hatton is so predictable with that punch it’s not even funny. All Senchenko has to do is wait on Hatton until he he throws that punch and then come straight down the pike with right hand that. Hatton will be flopping around on the canvas like he was against Pacquiao.
