By Dan Ambrose: WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (24-0, 12 KOs) says he’s ready to fight IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) in Kazakhstan on June 10, because he thinks the soon to be 35-year-old Triple G has gotten old enough to be beaten now. Saunders says he told the boxing fans a little over a year ago that he wanted to wait 18 months to 2 years before facing Golovkin. That time has now gone by and Saunders is ready to fight Golovkin and beat him in his own country of Kazakhstan.
Golovkin vs. Saunders
Saunders-Golovkin on June 10 could jeopardize Canelo-Golovkin says Gomez
By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy President Eric Gomez is reportedly concerned with the rumors of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin facing WBO 160 pound champion Billy Joe Saunders on June 10, because it could get in the way of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez facing Triple G in September.
Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler shutdown the Saunders-Golovkin rumors this week by saying that they have no plans on fighting him on June 10. A fight between Golovkin and Saunders would very likely be a short one with the fight ending in 6 rounds or less.
Gennady Golovkin vs. Billy Joe Saunders possible for summer
By Jeff Aranow: WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders could be facing IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in a unification fight in the summer if Golovkin wins his next fight against Daniel Jacobs on March 18.
Saunders is supposed to be facing a very dangerous opponent in #1 WBO Avtandil Khurtsidze in his next fight, but could give him a step aside feel so that he can get out of that fight temporarily.
