By Allan Fox: #3 WBA Daniel Geale (30-2, 16 KO’s) is hoping to pull off a huge upset on July 26th when he challenges WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KO’s) for his WBA title at Madison Square Garden. Geale, 33, was kind of knocked down a peg last year when he was beaten by Darren Barker by a 12 round split decision. Geale lost his WBA title in that fight, and it was a fight that many fans had thought he was going to win. But Barker proved to be too strong for Geale in that fight.
“I’m pleased to be making my way back to HBO against Gennady Golovkin, a fighter who everyone thinks is invincible,” said Geale. “A victory will get me back to where I want to be. The people of Australia believe in me and that’s what drives me, my countrymen. I want to show them they have a great champion. On July 26th the world will see me back on top.”
