By Scott Gilfoid: Former four-time world title challenger Martin Murray will be facing former two-time world title challenger Gabriel Rosado on April 22 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. This is the big fight that Murray’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been talking about for a week now.

Murray won his last fight against the previously unbeaten fringe contender Nuhu Lawal by a 12 round unanimous decision on November 12 last year. It was a good win for Murray, but it wasn’t a victory over a top name.

By Dan Ambrose: Former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado is giving Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) a really good shot of beating IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) in their fight on HBO PPV on March 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Rosado (23-10, 13 KOs) has shared the ring with Triple G before four years ago in 2013, and he has firsthand knowledge of how good he is. Golovkin knocked Rosado out in seven rounds. Rosado had a good 5th round. Golovkin hurt Rosado in the 6th with a tremendous uppercut. The fight was halted in the 7th.

Rosado rates Jacobs’ punching power, talent and athleticism highly, and that’s why he feels he’s got a good chance of handing GGG his first loss of his career.

Canelo beats Golovkin, says Monroe

monroe

By Patrick McHugh: Middleweight contender Willie Monroe Jr. (21-2, 6 KOs) decided to chime in on his thoughts last night in who will come out on top in the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin fight if it gets made next year in September. Monroe has sparred with Canelo in the past, and he fought Golovkin last year in getting stopped in the 6th round.

Monroe says he believes that Canelo will beat Golovkin. Monroe is totally convinced that Canelo has the goods to win that fight. He thinks it’ll be a good match due to their different styles, but he believes that Golovkin’s habit of coming forward to pressure his opponents will be perfect for the counter punching Canelo to beat him.

Rosado: It’s obvious why Golovkin avoided Andre Ward

Image: Rosado: It’s obvious why Golovkin avoided Andre Ward

By Dan Ambrose: Former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado says he saw weakness from IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 Kos) in his fight last Saturday night against Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) in their fight in London, England, and he can understand now why he chose not to fight former super middleweight champion Andre Ward.

Rosado notes that Golovkin was easy to hit, and he thinks he can be taken advantage of if a bigger opponent can get in close to him.

Rosado: Brook could get damaged by Golovkin forever

Image: Rosado: Brook could get damaged by Golovkin forever

By Scott Gilfoid: Former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado thinks it’s a bad idea that welterweight Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) is moving up in weight two divisions to challenge IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) on September 10. Rosado thinks Brook could get damaged permanently by Golovkin from a potential brutal beating that he inflicts on him.

Rosado points out that many fighters are never the same after they take a really bad beating inside the ring. With Brook moving up in weight to face one of the most dangerous punchers in the 160lb division, he’s taking big risk against Golovkin.

Rosado: I’m going to make Willie Monroe quit

By Allan Fox: #11 WBO middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado (29-3, 13 KOs) is saying that he plans on making #15 WBO Willie Monroe Jr. (20-2, 6 KOs) quit when the two of them fight next month on September 17 in the co-feature bout on HBO pay-per-view at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The winner of the Rosado-Monroe Jr. is expected to be matched against fellow Golden Boy Promotions fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

“The big prize is Canelo,” Golden Boy Promotions executive Eric Gomez said on Monday. “The winner of (Rosado-Monroe) could very well be fighting Canelo in December.”

Just when that fight will take place is unknown. It could either be this December or in May of 2017. It probably won’t be in September next year, because supposedly that will be when Canelo will be fighting Golovkin; although many boxing fans highly doubt that will be happening. They expect Golden Boy to be using a walker or a cane and eating pureed food by the time Canelo finally fights him.
