Super six next round: Froch, Ward and Abraham to come out on top and Taylor to drop out

Image: Super six next round: Froch, Ward and Abraham to come out on top and Taylor to drop outBy Peter Wells: With the next round of the Super Six tourney on its way for next March/April, I would now like to give my preview for each fight for this round. Arthur Abraham tops the leader board with 3 points for his 12th round knockout of Jermain Taylor. Carl Froch and Andre Ward are both on 2 points; Carl beat Andre Dirrell via split decision while Ward beat Mikkel Kessler via technical decision after the fight was stopped in the 11th by accidental head butts, or more like purposeful head butts.

Haye thinks Froch will win Super Six tourney – News

Image: Haye thinks Froch will win Super Six tourney - NewsBy Scott Gilfoid: World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye thinks that WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch will win the Super Six tournament. Haye previously fought alongside Froch during parts of their amateur days. It’s hard for me to agree with Haye’s belief that Froch will win the Super Six tourney or that he’ll even beat Abraham or Kessler. Not after seeing how Froch looked against American Andre Dirrell in their fight on October 17th.

Is this the Golden age of British Boxing or do we have a bunch of pretenders?

dirrell45454By Scott Gilfoid: To listen to some of the British boxing fans, you would think we’re entering the golden age of British boxing. Who knows? They could be right. I would really like to see a bunch of British boxers take over the sport, if they can. But I don’t see too many British boxers that I can see dominating any of the divisions. I can see some paper champions, at least three of them, but I can see any real dominating fighters that will make me think we’re in a golden era of British boxers. Let’s look what we have in the way of talented British fighters, shall we?

Carl “The Cobra” Froch: Doing the UK Proud Whatever Happens

froch5655By Chris Kelly: Whilst the Boxing press and media tend to favour the likes of Amir Khan and David Haye, there is another World Champion from these shores who is humbly securing his place in boxing history. Nottingham’s Carl Froch may receive relatively little publicity in comparison to his countrymen and fellow World Champions but this certainly does not diminish his accomplishments.

Froch forced to get sloppy seconds against Kessler

froch5453By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is going to have to settle for a fight against former World Boxing Association super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler in 2010 without Kessler’s title being on the line after the Danish fighter was soundly beaten by American talent Andre Ward on November 21st in Oakland, California. Not only will the title not be at stake for Froch, but also given the terrible beating that Kessler took against Ward, Froch won’t likely get nearly as much credit as he would have received had he been the first fighter to beat Kessler in the Super Six tournament.

Froch: “The Yank’s aren’t having the best of times so far” – News

froch555By Scott Gilfoid: World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch was sounding a little bit cocky in today’s Super Six tourney press release in talking about recently beaten Americans Andre Dirrell and Jermain Taylor, commenting “The Yank’s aren’t having the best of times so far. I felt for Jermain Taylor getting stopped in the last round against [Arthur] Abraham, it was like my fight with him all over again.
