Froch brags about knocking Groves down in sparring

froch55By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) thinks he’s going to knockout #1 WBO, #2 WBA contender George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) in their fight 2 months from now on November 23rd at the Phones 4u Arena, Manchester, United Kingdom. Why does Froch think he’s going to KO Groves? Well, because years ago when Groves was a lot younger than he is now, Froch knocked him down in one of their sparring sessions. Never mind that it was a one-time thing that happened before the now 25-year-old Groves had developed as a fighter, Froch thinks it means something for their bout in November.

Froch said to Sky Sports News “I put him over myself in sparring, and to be honest, I was pulling my punches when I hit him.

Groves: Froch can retire after I beat him

groves5443By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #1 WBO, #2 WBO, George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) says he’s in a situation where he can’t afford to lose in his title challenge against IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) on November 23rd at the Phones 4u Arena, in Manchester, United Kingdom. Groves, 25, hasn’t made the same kind of big money that Froch has hauled in during his career, so a loss for Groves would be a huge blow to his career due it undermining what he’s trying to accomplish.

In contrast, Froch can retire with a nice bundle of cash from his fights in the Super Six tournament as well as his bouts since that time against Lucian Bute, Yusaf Mack and Mikkel Kessler.

Tickets for Froch vs. Groves sells out in 11 minutes

YouTube video
By Scott Gilfoid: Tickets for the November 23 fight between IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) and challenger George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) sold out on Tuesday after only 11 minutes for their clash at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom. It’s surprising that this fight is so popular considering that Groves hasn’t really anyone that you can call a good fighter as of now, and his best win over James DeGale from 2 years ago was a controversial one.

Froch is coming off an unimpressive win over Mikkel Kessler in their rematch last May. Froch would have lost that fight had Kessler not waited until the 5th round to actually start fighting. It was one of the strangest fights that you’ll ever see where the more talented guy in Kessler is just standing and absolutely nothing for 4 rounds, and then all of a sudden he starts fighting in the 5th and dominates the rest of the fight. Kessler blew it because he would have won the fight had he had the sense enough to start throwing punches when the fight started instead of looking he didn’t want to be there.

groves555By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn finally found venue for the November 23rd fight between IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) and unbeaten #1 WBO, #2 WBA, #6 IBF, George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s). The two will be fighting at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, England.

Froch and Groves will be having a news conference next month on September 17th to start the promotion going for the fight. In the UK this fight is a big deal, but pretty much elsewhere this one won’t register a blip on the radar screen. Groves isn’t a big enough name for the fight to get much attention outside of the UK.

Froch: Groves isn’t showing me enough respect for my accomplishments

froch7By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) is still bent out of shape because he feels his next opponent unbeaten #1 WBO, #2 WBA, #6 IBF, George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) hasn’t been giving him the kind of respect that he’s looking for. Froch and Groves will be fighting before the year, but they’re still waiting for their promoter Eddie Hearn to line up a date and venue for the fight.

Froch said this about Groves as quoted by Talksport “He’s not showing me enough respect for what I’ve done. He’s talking about me believing my hype, when he should be showing me some respect, If he wants to be a bit cheeky and aloof it’s my job to punish him and that’s what I’ll do.”

Froch: I’m getting wound up by Groves’ arrogance

froch922By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) doesn’t seem to like the idea that his opponent George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) for later this year believes he’s got the talent needed to beat him. This bothers Froch and he sees it as arrogance instead of self-belief and confidence coming from Groves.

Froch said to Talk Sport “I’m getting a little bit wound up by the arrogance and the disrespect that they’re showing for a true champion. So he wants to be very careful what he wishes for…he’s a massive underdog, and nobody really own trainer ‘Too smooth’ Booth is giving him a big chance…he’s stepping right in with the best of the best.”

Booth sees Groves beating Froch

booth343By Scott Gilfoid: Adam Booth, the trainer for unbeaten 168 lb. contender George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s), believes his fighter is going to handle IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) in their upcoming fight in November or December. Booth said he wouldn’t have allowed Groves to take the fight if he didn’t believe that he had what it takes to whip the 36-year-old Froch.

Both said to Sky Sports “I would never accept a fight for a fighter of mine if I didn’t truly believe, no sales spiel, truly believe he had what it took to win the fight. I feel so confident in George Groves right now that I can’t wait for his fight against Carl…when he [Groves] wins, the light is going to be that much brighter on him.”

groves555By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) may be on the verge of becoming irrelevant in the super middleweight division if the much younger, 25-year-old George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) can beat him and rip his straps from around his waist in their now confirmed fight on November 23rd in the UK.

Groves says his trainer Adam Booth is going to come up with the perfect plan to defeat the 36-year-old Froch and take his traps from him.

Haye: Groves is ready to face Froch

groves11By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye believes unbeaten George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) is as ready as he’ll ever be to facing IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) in a clash that could take place in November. Haye doesn’t feel that the 25-year-old Groves needs any more experience to be ready to fight the 36-year-old Froch. He sees him as being essentially the finished product at 25.

Haye said to Sky Sports “If George Groves isn’t ready now when will he be ready? He is ranked number one behind him, so who else should he fight? There aren’t many people out there either, so if he’s not ready now, he’ll never be ready…I think this will be a great fight for him.”
