Predictions: Froch, Dirrell and Ward to come out on top

Image: Predictions: Froch, Dirrell and Ward to come out on topBy Dennis Broadhurst:

Froch-Kessler: I see this fight coming out with Froch on top through a hard fought decision or very late stoppage. I think Froch will struggle in the early rounds with Kessler but his chin will take him through to dominate the later rounds (9-12). I would not be suprised for Froch to be dropped early on much like against Taylor but then coming back. I don’t think Kessler likes taking a hit (not that anyone does) he will backdown later on when Froch comes on strong with his powerful punches, thinking he will need a knockout to win and may score a stoppage but will have the last round rally he needed. Both men will be great on the night but I see a tight victory for Froch.

Dirrell: “That man [Abraham] is dangerous”

Image: Dirrell: “That man [Abraham] is dangerous”By Scott Gilfoid: In the latest episode of Showtime’s Fight Camp 360, super middleweight Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) had a lot of praise for the power and skills of his March 27th opponent Arthur Abraham (31-0, 25 KO’s), saying “He [Abraham] lines you up so you can’t move and then brings that right straight down. It’s pretty, Man, and it’s fast. That’s why it’s harder than it looks to escape from, because he’s [Abraham] so explosive. That man is dangerous, period.” I hope Dirrell isn’t giving Abraham too much credit. The guy is good, but he’s not as good as Dirrell is making him out to be.

Dirrell vs. Abraham to take place in Detroit

Image: Dirrell vs. Abraham to take place in DetroitBy Scott Gilfoid: The March 27th Super Six tournament bout between contestants Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) and Arthur Abraham (31-0, 25 KO’s) will take place in Detroit, Michigan, instead of California, according to news from the Grand Rapids Press. The bout was supposed to be taking place at the Agua Caliente Casino, in Rancho Mirage, California. But now it will either take place at the Cobo Arena or Joe Louis Arena. This actually works out even better for Dirrell, 26, because he comes from Flint, Michigan. He can obviously expect a huge sellout crowd in Detroit where his fans from all over the state will be flocking to the area to see Dirrell fight Abraham.

Dirrell vs. Abraham: Andre will make an example of Arthur

By Scott Gilfoid: Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) isn’t pleased with how he had his perfect record marred by a questionable 12 round split decision against Carl Froch in their stage 1 Super Six bout on October 17th last year. Dirrell wants to make up for that loss in his next fight against unbeaten Arthur Abraham on March 27th, and it would seem that Dirrell has the perfect opponent to do that against. Abraham, although much more skilled and powerful than Froch, doesn’t have the hand speed or movement to really test Dirrell.

Dirrell: “I’m in a do or die situation right now”

Image: Dirrell: “I’m in a do or die situation right now”By Scott Gilfoid: After losing a controversial 12 round unanimous decision to WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch on October 17th, Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) finds himself in a must win situation when he enters the ring for his second fight of the Super Six tournament against Arthur Abraham (31-0, 25 KO’s) on March 27th at the Agua Caliente Casino, in Rancho Mirage, California. Dirrell probably is the most skilled fighter in the entire super middleweight division, with speed and moves similar to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Dirrell talks Froch, Kessler, Taylor, Abraham and Ward

Image: Dirrell talks Froch, Kessler, Taylor, Abraham and WardBy Scott Gilfoid: Once beaten Andre Dirrel (18-1, 13 KO’s)l is currently rehabilitating his injured back that he hurt while training recently for his March 27th Super Six bout against unbeaten Arthur Abraham (31-0, 25 KO’s). In an interview at East Side Boxing’s On the Ropes show, the talented Dirrell had this to say: “I don’t believe he [Carl Froch] is going to beat [Mikkel] Kessler. He [Froch] has a better chance against [Arthur] Abraham if you ask me, but I don’t think he’s [Froch] going to beat Kessler. He’s [Kessler] a great boxer. I think Kessler is the better man.”

Dirrell vs. Abraham: Will Andre’s back be healed by March 27th?

Image: Dirrell vs. Abraham: Will Andre’s back be healed by March 27th?By Scott Gilfoid: I have a massive amount of respect for super middleweight Andre Dirrell (18-1, 13 KO’s) for only asking for a three week postponement for his Super Six bout against Arthur Abraham (31-0, 15 KO’s). Dirrell, 26, injured his back while training this week for what was supposed to be a fight on March 6th at the Agua Caliente Casino, in Rancho Mirage, California. Dirrell bravely decided to take only three weeks off to rehabilitate his injured back rather than months. I’m familiar with back injuries myself after hurting my back surfing not too long ago.

Super Six Overview: The Americans were overlooked

Image: Super Six Overview: The Americans were overlookedBy Liam Fitzgerald: After the first round of bouts in the Super Six super middleweight tournament it has been interesting to see how opinions on the eventual outcome of the tournament have changed. I for one have been surprised by the results and have had to readdress my own predictions. In particular the two young Americans Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell have impressed me greatly.
