Dirrell vs. Froch: Who wins the rematch?

Image: Dirrell vs. Froch: Who wins the rematch?By Scott Gilfoid: It’s been six months since the talented American Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) lost a controversial 12 round split decision against Britain’s Carl Froch (26-0, 20 KO’s) in Nottingham, England. I thought it was the worst decision I’ve ever seen before, but I know how these things go when visiting fighters are fighting in another fighters’ home city. Froch says that Dirrell was out to spoil, and not stand up and fight him toe-to-toe the way he wanted him to. But what Froch failed to understand was the Dirrell, a fighter with amazing hand speed and boxing skills, wasn’t the type of fighter that just stands and mindlessly trades shots all night long.

Dirrell and Ward could wind up the biggest stars produced by the Super Six tournament

Image: Dirrell and Ward could wind up the biggest stars produced by the Super Six tournamentBy Scott Gilfoid: If the Super Six tournament were to end today, perhaps the two biggest stars that the Super Six tournament has produced will be Americans Andre Dirrell (19-1, 13 KO’s) and Andre Ward (21-0, 13 KO’s). Both fighters have looked impeccable in their respective bouts. Dirrell, however, has a record of 1-1 in the Super Six competition, but he could easily be considered 2-0, due to the impressive manner in which he boxed World Boxing Council super middleweight champion Carl Froch and seemingly beat him on October 17th, last year in the first Super Six tournament bout.

Why didn’t Dirrell have tears when he was crying?

Image: Why didn’t Dirrell have tears when he was crying?By Chris Williams: I don’t know if I was the only that noticed this or not, but when Andre Dirrell was crying after his 11th round disqualification victory over Arthur Abraham last Saturday night in their Super Six tournament fight in Detroit, Michigan. Dirrell had been easily winning most of the fight when he seemed to fade in the 10th round. In the 11th, Dirrell was running for his life from Abraham when he slipped on the canvas. Abraham, not one to waste a good opportunity, loaded up plastered the side of Dirrell’s head with a nice uppercut.

Dirrell Fought the right fight

Image: Dirrell Fought the right fightBy Ronnie Jordan: Having just viewed the first match of the second round of the super six tournament, I’m extremely excited after a terrific bout and tremendous boxing display from Andre Dirrell. He came into the fight with a few question marks about his heart and ability to take a punch and was accused of negativity in the Froch fight. Although in my mind the boring match up was also partly due to Carl Froch who seemed to fear Dirrell’s speed and was reluctant to get in close at times. Against Abraham a Dirrell victory was seen as a real possibility if he stuck to his game plan of hit and move.

Abraham looking scared of Dirrell

Image: Abraham looking scared of DirrellPhoto: Tom Casino/showtime – By Scott Gilfoid: At today’s weigh-in between Arthur Abraham and Andre Dirrell, I couldn’t help noticing how scared Abraham looked. He looked really scared much more than I can ever remember him being. Abraham looked especially timid when he was forced to stand and look Dirrell in the eyes while standing directly in front of him. Abraham appeared incredibly nervous, looking as if he wanted to get away from Dirrell as fast as he could. This isn’t a good sign for Abraham. He usually has a cocky look to him at weigh-ins and when entering a fight.
