By Scott Gilfoid: Former British super middleweight champion James DeGale (10-1, 8 KO’s) has been sparring with middleweight Darren Barker to get ready for DeGale’s October 15th fight against EBU super middleweight champion Piotr Wilczewski (29-1, 10 KO’s) at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. I think Barker will get more from the sparring to help him against Sergio Martinez, the WBC Diamond champion, in their fight next week than DeGale getting anything from it.

Groves hints at rematch against DeGale but doesn’t seem eager for the job
By Scott Gilfoid: In a recent interview with Ifilm London, British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves (13-0, 10 KO’s) said his next move after he defends his two titles against Paul Smith (31-2, 17 KO’s) on November 5th is to go after the European super middleweight title, which is currently held by Piotr Wilczewski.
DeGale vs. Wilczewski, Cleverly vs. Bellew: One good fight and one mismatch
By Scott Gilfoid: On October 15th, we’re going to see two different type fights where on one hand we’ll be seeing a talented fighter in James DeGale (10-1, 8 KO’s) vying for another title in his attempts to win the EBU super middleweight belt off of champion Piotr Wilczewski (29-1, 10 KO’s) in a fight that promises to be an exciting one while it lasts.

Still no big fights for Groves; DeGale fights for EBU title against Wilczewski
By Scott Gilfoid: The excuse that George Groves’s team gave for not giving the talented James DeGale (10-1, 8 KO’s) a badly needed rematch was that Groves was moving on to bigger and better things after Groves won a controversial 12 round majority decision in May.
DeGale vs. Wilczewski: Win could lead to title shot for James
By Scott Gilfoid: The super talented James DeGale (10-1, 8 KO’s) has picked out his next opponent no. 4 ranked WBO super middleweight contender Piotr Wilczewski (29-1, 10 KO’s) for a fight on September 17th at a still to be determined venue. The bout is very important for both fighters, but mainly for DeGale because he’ll win it and be in a good position to get a crack at the World Boxing Organization paper champion Robert Stieglitz.
