By Eric Thomas: 46-year-old WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KO’s) received some good news today by the California State Athletic Commission, who met today to rule on Hopkin’s controversial 2nd round technical decision loss to Chad Dawson (30-1, 17 KO’s) from October 15th in which Hopkins was shoved off the back of Dawson and thrown/pushed to the canvas.

If Golden Boy succeeds, Hopkins will get his title back without having to fight Dawson again.

Hopkins makes it appear that he wants Dawson to come at him so that it’ll make for a more exciting fight for the boxing fans.

Tarver, who was previously beaten twice by Dawson and once by Hopkins, sees Dawson as the superior fighter because of his youth and talent.
Tarver told Yahoo Sports “”That Hopkins has done well and at 46 years old, wow, what he has done is unbelievable. That said, I just think Dawson is too talented, too young, and I think he’s just too good. That’s just my take on it after being in the ring with both guys.”

Both fighters are confident and both are convinced that they will be victorious in the match up which shows promise of being an extremely interesting fight. The venue for the fight will be the Staples Center in Los Angeles and it will be an HBO Pay Per View (PPV) event.
