Eubank Jr. thinks he’ll beat Golovkin

eubank55555By Scott Gilfoid: WBA interim middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr 19-1, 14 KOs) is at it once again in name dropping IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s name, and saying he thinks he’s slow, beatable and with vulnerabilities that he thinks he can exploit when/if the two of them ever face each other.

Eubank Jr has a mismatch scheduled against 39-year-old #13 WBA Tony Jeter (20-4-1-KO14) on the undercard of the Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves card on October 24th at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Why is Eubank Jr fighting an older fighter ranked so low is unclear?

Hearn wants Eubank Jr vs. DeGale fight

eubank56By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is eying a fight between IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) and interim WBA middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr (19-1, 14 KOs) in the future once Eubank Jr moves up to super middleweight. Hearn thinks a fight between the two of them would be a huge affair if the two of them can keep winning. That’s the problem lies.

Eubank Jr has already been beaten by Billy Joe Saunders, and there are better fighters in the division than him. It stands to reason that if Eubank Jr can’t even beat a fighter in the class of Saunders, then how in the heck can he ever beat the real talents in the division like Gennady Golovkin, Peter Quillin, Daniel Jacobs, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto? Will the British boxing public get excited about a DeGale-Eubank Jr fight if the best guy that Eubank Jr has beaten is Dmitry Chudinov? I think not.

Eubank Jr. vs. Jeter on October 24th Brook-Chaves card

eubank4By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it doesn’t look like the boxing fans are going to be getting much value for their money in the co-feature bout in this month’s Sky Box Office pay-per-view card head-lined by Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) vs. Diego Chaves (23-2-1, 19 KOs) on October 24th at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK.

Instead of a nice competitive match-up between fighters evenly matched, #1 WBA middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. (19-1, 14 KOs) has what amounts to be a mismatch against 39-year-old American Tony Jeter (24-4-1, 14 KOs) as the co-feature bout.

Eubank Jr. wants Golovkin

eubank44By Scott Gilfoid: Interim WBA middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (19-1, 14 KOs) says he wants to fight IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs). The 26-year-old Eubank Jr. says he wants to win world titles at both 160 and 168, and he doesn’t see why he shouldn’t go after the likes of Golovkin.

Eubank Jr. says he wants to fight the best in both divisions, and he thinks that within two years he can have all the world titles in both the middleweight and super middleweight divisions.

Andy Lee v Chris Eubank Jnr two ships that passed in the night

lee7By John Curran: The recent announcement by Adam Booth to join Team Eubank slams the door shut to a future contest between Andy Lee and Chris Eubank Jnr. It appears, from comments made by Adam Booth, the career trajectory of both middleweights are like that of two ships passing in the night, rapidly moving in opposite directions. The metaphor is my own, while the observation that of Adam Booth.

Chris Eubank Jr. added to Eddie Hearn’s stable

YouTube video

By Tim Fletcher: As the saying goes ‘the rich get richer.’ This fits perfectly with the new signing by British promoter Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport promotional company of WBA interim middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (19-1, 14 KOs) on Friday.

The addition of the 26-year-old Eubank Jr. gives Hearn a virtual monopoly of the best fighters in the UK, thanks to his contract with Sky Sports. Hearn is luring all the top fighters to his stable, and Eubank Jr. is just the latest of what will likely continue to be a flood of fighters coming to him.

Eubank Jr: I see weakness in Golovkin, he’s beatable!

eubank4By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBA 160b contender Chris Eubank Jr. (19-1, 14 KOs) says he spots weaknesses in IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s game that he feels he can exploit when he eventually gets a fight against him in the future.

With Eubank Jr’s No.1 ranking, it probably won’t take very long if his management are actually interested in having him go that route to the title. There’s the WBA “regular” middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs that would seem to be the more logical route for the 25-year-old Eubank Jr. to take to the world title rather than skipping to the head of the class to fight Golovkin.

Chris Eubank Jr: Does he justify his hype?

eubank4By Olly Campbell: Now the dust has settled slightly following Frank Warren’s “Risky Business” promotion in London last Saturday, social media has gone into something of a meltdown with regards to Chris Eubank Jr and his statement performance against Russia’s Dmitry Chudinov.

In what ended up as 12 one-sided and dominant rounds from the Brighton man, the granite chinned Russian absorbed an horrendous amount of punishment before finally, and belatedly being stopped by Swedish referee Mikael Hook, who in reality is relatively inexperienced at top level and was brought in last minute following a dispute over the appointment of neutral officials.

Chris Eubank Jr bouncing back

eubank55555By Kevin Brown: This Saturday sees Chris Eubank Jr. (18-1) return to the ring against WBA interim champion Dmitry Chudinov (14-0-2). This will be Eubanks first fight since his first career defeat against unbeaten Billy Joe Saunders last time out.

The defeat was a close call and arguably the correct decision! However what was impressive was how Eubank finished the fight. There were moments from round 7 onwards where you were just waiting for Saunders to hit the floor but Saunders managed to stay on his feet and avoid the barrage of uppercuts that Eubank was throwing. Instead of taking an easy fight to regain his confidence like many would Eubank has chosen to fight a live contender so he is taking a big risk. the reward if he gets the win could see him jump into the top 10 middleweight rankings and on the brink of a World title shot.

Eubank Jr gets title shot against Chudinov on 2/28 in London

eubank2By Scott Gilfoid: #14 WBC Chris Eubank Jr (18-1, 13 KOs) will be getting a shot at the title of WBA World interim middleweight champion Dmitry Chudinov (14-0-2, 9 KOs) on the undercard of the Tyson Fury vs. Christian Hammer fight card on February 28th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

What’s interesting about this fight is the fact that Eubank Jr is coming off of a 12 round split decision loss to Billy Joe Saunders in his last fight in November. Normally you don’t see a lot of fighters getting title shots when they’re coming off of a defeat like Eubank Jr.
