Saunders-Eubank Jr fight signed for November 29th in London, UK

eubank34By Scott Gilfoid: For boxing fans interested in a domestic level scrap, the grudge match between #2 WBO middleweight contender Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KOs) and #15 WBO Chris Eubank Jr (17-0, 12 KOs) has reportedly been signed by both fighters for a fight that will take place next month on November 29th at the ExCel Arena, Dockland, in London, United Kingdom.

It recently looked like the fight wasn’t going to happen after Eubank Jr failed to sign the contract for the fight after it was sent out. Saunders then was looking to move on to challenge for the vacant WBO middleweight title against Matt Korobov.

That fight would have likely taken place if not for Eubank Jr having a change of mind, because Demetrius Andrade, the fighter that was supposed to be fighting Korobov, opted not to take the fight. That left the spot available to Saunders if he wanted to take the shot. But Saunders will still get a crack at the WBO title if he can get past Eubank Jr.

Billy Joe Saunders vs. Chris Eubank Jr added to Chisora-Fury 2 card on November 29th

eubank2By Scott Gilfoid: #2 WBO, #8 IBF, #12 WBA Billy Joe Saunders (20-0, 11 KOs) will be facing #15 WBO Chris Eubank Jr (17-0, 12 KOs) on November 29th on the undercard of the Dereck Chisora vs. Tyson Fury 2 card at the Excel Arena in London, UK.

The Saunders-Eubank Jr was officially added today. Saunders, 25, had been hoping to get a shot at the vacant WBO middleweight title that was recently vacated by Peter Quillin. But the World Boxing Organization chose instead to have Demetrius Andrade face #1 WBO Matt Korobov for the vacant WBO 160 pound title based on the better quality opposition that Andrade has been facing compared to Saunders, who hadn’t fought a decent quality opponent for 14 months.

Chris Eubank Jr vs. Stepan Horvath this Saturday

eubank7By Scott Gilfoid: Middleweight prospect Chris Eubank Jr. (15-0, 10 KO’s) will be fighting Stepan Horvath (12-3, 4 KO’s) in a scheduled 8 round bout this Saturday night on the Paul Butler vs. Stuart Hall fight card at the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom. Eubank Jr, 24, is trying to make his way up the rankings to contender status. He’s being matched against a fighter who has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights in 31-year-old Horvath.

Eubank Jr. sees Horvath as a good fighter because he lasted 8 rounds against Frank Buglioni last year in November before getting knocked out in the 8th. But instead of seeing Horvath as a good fighter, it might be a good possibly that Buglioni is flawed.

Eubank Jr: I beat up DeGale in front of his dad

eubank2By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten middleweight prospect Chris Eubank Jr. (9-0, 4 KO’s) explained recently why him and WBC Silver super middleweight champion James DeGale (14-1, 9 KO’s) have so much bad blood between them. Eubank Jr, 23, says he came over to the 27-year-old former 2008 Olympic gold medalist DeGale’s gym not long ago to spar with him, and he got the better of him in front of his dad and his friends.

After it was over, he was booted from the gym by DeGale. Because of that, Eubank Jr. says he decided to tell people what happened in that sparring session.

Eubank Jr. said to Sky Sports “I’ll probably come away with a title shot by the end of the year. It’s in my DNA to be like he was. With DeGale, I went into his gym and sparred and stayed on top of him for 8 rounds, and at the end of the 8th round, I dealt with him.

degale45By Scott Gilfoid: WBC Silver super middleweight champion James DeGale (14-1, 9 KO’s) and unbeaten middleweight prospect Chris Eubank Jr. (9-0, 4 KO’s) will be sharing the same card on March 23rd at the Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom.

Neither fighter has an opponent picked out but the 27-year-old DeGale is rumored to be facing 37-year-old former WBA World super middleweight champion Brian Magee (36-5-1, 25 KO’s).

It’s a good fight if they can put this one together because still has a little bit left in the tank, even though he got smashed by Mikkel Kessler in his last fight in December.

Billy Joe Saunders wants Eubank Jr. or Ryder in 2013

saunders3By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (16-0, 10 KO’s) is hoping he can get a fight against either Chris Eubank Jr. (9-0, 4 KO’s) or John Ryder (13-0, 8 KO’s) in 2013. Saunders, 23, is coming off of a less than impressive 12 round unanimous decision over Nick Blackwell last Saturday night in London in a fight where Saunders took a lot of punishment, and looked stressed out in a major way from the constant pressure that Blackwell was putting him under.

Saunders said to Sky Ringside “I think John Ryder could be a good fight. Chris Eubank Jr. is a very arrogant man. I would love to fight him.”

Eubank Jr. defeats Pryce

Image: Eubank Jr. defeats PryceBy William Mackay: Unbeaten middleweight prospect Chris Eubank Jr. (8-0, 3 KO’s) defeated Bradley Pryce (30-12, 18 KO’s) by an 8 round points decision on the Tyson Fury vs. Kevin Johnson undercard on Saturday night at the Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. The referee Steve Gray scored the fight 80-73.

The fight was a lot closer than that, however, as the 31-year-old Pryce was able to land a lot of hard shots all throughout the fight. Eubank Jr landed a lot of punches and looked good, but his power wasn’t all that impressive. Pryce looked like the harder puncher of the two, but he wasn’t able to land enough of his shots to get the win.

Chris Eubank Jr beats a mediocre Rulans Pojonisevs

Image: Chris Eubank Jr beats a mediocre Rulans PojonisevsBy Mark Calooke: Chris Eubank (7-0) wins on points with against Ruslans Pojonisevs. Like most people I am wondering when Eubank will stop being fed fighters. At his level he is bound to be facing journey men. But Pojonisevez is more on the level of a sparring partner.

I don’t really rate Chris Eubank Jr. I think his talent has been inflated by fans of his super talented Father, Chris Eubank Sr. But it is sad to see him being held back so much. True he has only had 6 fights but has been moved up to 8 rounds. I laugh whenever I hear the commentators at his fights. they repeatedly state that he has been matched hard throughout his career. I’m sure that’s what his team tell him but he has always faced people who are there to lose. They know it and so does Eubanks Jr.

DeGale on Eubank Jr: He is Stupid, Rude and living off his Dad’s Rep

Image: DeGale on Eubank Jr: He is Stupid, Rude and living off his Dad’s RepBy Mark Havey: European super-middleweight champion James DeGale and Chris Eubank Jr have engaged in a war of words this week. Both men will be fighting on the same bill this week but DeGale has said “our rivalry is all in his head”. Both have said they got the better of the other in sparring. Does it matter? Not really. Sparring is sparring and the winner would have depended on their stages of fitness.

DeGale told the Daily Star “I got the impression that him and his dad live on a different planet. He jumped over the ropes and into the ring where I was working. I told him to get out of the ring and he didn’t like it. He behaves stupid and is rude and disrespectful and lives off his dad’s reputation”
